Can someone send screenshots? I'd like to see what the theme is like.
Thanks!

SUCCESS!! I just uploaded the Orange UK version and LOVE it. I did notice some minor slowing down within menus...but I also might need a reset, as well. Kudos to everyone!!

You can either go to the site on your PC and save the images, then email them to your BB, or you can browse to the site on your BB and download the ones you want directly.

BES Email Reply Not Working -
03-24-2006, 09:51 AM
All,
I upgraded and activated the Zen theme. It all works GREAT. The problem I have is that when replying to emails, the SEND command is missing. In fact I only get the menu for composing emails. It works fine for new emails. This error only occurs when trying to reply, reply all or forward an email. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Access shortcuts.... -
03-25-2006, 12:40 PM
Hey,
Thanks soooo much for the sweet theme so much more functional and user friendly!
Have a question though,
Using this theme with "dial from home screen" set at "no" the access shortcuts do not work, and I get "assign a speed dial to the - key?" when I press on any of the shortcut keys.
Any ideas on what I need to change?
Thanks in advance,

That's odd. I have the Send option on mine, and I haven't heard from anyone else with that issue. Did you remove/reinsert battery after 30 secs? How about alt/num/del?

Are you holding the shortcut keys too long? Just tap the shortcut key to bring up the shortcut, and press and hols it to bring up the speed dial portion of that same key.

Can anyone tell me how to re-install the Cingular OS? I guess I really didn't like Bharti after all.

I came from a 8700r to the 8700c. I found both quite responsive and felt Bharti a bit sluggish. I am considering following the same steps for the Bharti install to put the Roger OS on. Do you have any thoughts?

Hi, I downloaded bharti and installed, but im not getting the "finish install and run now?" like i do with my software which came in my cinuglar box.... It simply says "finish" and there are no programs in windows or even on my desktop???? I tried using the cingular desktop manager and it keeps freezing on the upgrade....

I am not as experienced as some others here but perhaps you need to uninstal the old version? Through the Control Panel.

The OS file only puts the OS software on the PC. Please go back to the first post regarding deleting the vendor.xml file and changing out the .alx file.

If i go to start>program files> I usually see blackberry folder, but after deleting the original and installing the bharti version, nothing is there! How weird...I tried installing again and this time it gives me the option "start app loader now" when installing is about to be finished. I unchecked it and clicked finish. But again, no where to open the program... cant find it. Since it doesnt even give me the option to install it to a specific location...

NOW, where do i get or how do i transfer ringtones on this thing???!

You know the expression: "Roses are red, violets are black, I'm schizophrenic and so am I..."
Well I'm back to Bharti. Nothing wrong with it at all. Just me being uber-anal. I bow to the general consensus.

Absolutely love the new themes...
But i have encountered what is HOPEFULLY my last problem..
I can get on the net, can receive and send sms messages,
but i CANNOT reply to emails. But i can receive them.
This is the message im receiving....
"message system not configured, can only save as a draft"
Any ideas? I tried host routing thingie but i think thats only for the net, which i have no problems with.

First try resending your service books.
If you are you on BES?
Did you do a new Enterprise Activation?

list of changes bharti makes? -
03-27-2006, 11:56 AM
I just installed bharti (thanks seattle18!) and it indeed fixes the ringer volume bug as advertised. I also find that when I go to voicemail (either cingular's voicemail or my work voicemail) it now is much much faster at dialing the access and pin numbers...big improvement there.
But I am wondering: besides the new themes, the fixed ringer and the faster voicemail dialing, what other improvements or bug fixes does the bharti upgrade give us compared to the usual cingular version? I am guessing that there are new features I haven't yet discovered, and when I searched for bharti I didn't find a simple list of the improvements and bug fixes (most of the posts are about the themes, which are less important to me). Anyone have a list?
Thanks.

If you're using BIS which from what you've described you are you probably need to resend your service books.
Log into the web client to do it. It's an option there.

what does new .alx file do? -
03-28-2006, 12:15 PM
What does the step where you use the separately downloaded .alx file to replace the original actually do? Is that just to add the zen theme? If you skip that step, what do you end up with?
The reason I ask is that the IT people at my work are reluctant to use software that doesn't come from blackberry's own site to upgrade other people's blackberries (I've already done mine ;) ) and I'm wondering if I should just suggest to them that they download the bharti version and simply load that. Thoughts?

To answer my own question, I just ran a comparison program to compare the two .alx versions and I can now confirm that the only thing the newer version of that file does is to remove a bunch of vendor_id tags relating to various themes. I imagine that those vendor_id tags in effect locked the BB from using those themes except for users using the specified vendors, so the effect of removing those tags is to allow the user to access all the themes, even those set up to only be used with specified vendors.
Is that correct? Any other impact?

For what it's worth... -
03-29-2006, 02:46 PM
I usually don't ever like anything other than the default theme on something...
However, I'm in the majority here...just downloaded the Zen theme, et al, and it works great, and looks AWESOME.
Took some time to tweak it to exactly what I like, but now that I have, I'm a HUGE fan.
Let me join in the thanks to all that have worked on this. It was WELL worth it.

Known issue: http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-8700-series-discussion/29864-zen-theme-removed-send-option.html
I am on a hosted BES, Link2Exchange. I first resent the service books through the web client. Then I had L2E do it through an enterprise (re) activation. Removed the battery for 30 seconds while bowing to the east (in the direction of Link2Exchange). Registered on host routing table. Tried the 3 finger salute (alt/num/del). Have not (yet) wiped unit.
What is also strange is Send sometimes shows up. Often to a recipient (original sender) who is NOT in my contacts list. But no 100% consistent pattern.
What version of the desktop manager do y'all have? I installed 4.1. Maybe that was not a good idea.

To reply to my own message, per a BB guru at my hosted BES, Link2Exchange, the 4.1 OS sometimes corrupts the service books, and he confirmed a wipe is required. So I did. Now my missing Send option no longer is missing. Nor is there a reoccurrence of a problem that I and others on this forum had, a More Service Book Missing message when scrolling through a long message.
Interestingly, I lost little on the wipe. All I had to do was type my PocketDay key back in. Even my prior font settings were preserved. I thought a wipe would, well, wipe everything out. But it didn't.
This is more or less a double post. I posted something similar to a thread I started in the 8700 forum. Usually I don't double post. But this is such a common issue, and people in one forum may not look in the other. Hopefully I have not angered the Admin deities.

Downgrading messenger?? -
03-31-2006, 03:34 PM
I'm at the place where it giving me a summary of what the upgrade is going to actually upgrade, "Device Application Summary". Everything seems ok, but the Messenger application is being downgraded from 1.0.94 to 1.0.92.
Is that anything to worry about--can I *not* downgrade somehow? If I uncheck the box, it says it will delete it. Any ideas??
Thank,
Kevin

If you have the 1.094 on your pc, I would delete the one on the manager right now and then point it to add the correct one, If you dont I would delete it and not install it then add it via ota again after it is done upgrading. As It is if you let it add the 1.092 back in, you would want to delete it to upgrade it again.
