Requests to Plazmic, What We Want! -
03-17-2006, 06:41 PM
This is a request thread for us to try and tell the great folks at Plazmic what we, as the users of the Theme Builder software, would like to see in the next release. I know from time to time they do look through the treads on the BBForums. Maybe if the see all the requests in one place it won't be so hard on them.
Please post your top desires here.
This said, what I would like to see for the 8700 series is a simpler banner layout for the Icon base theme. Something like the banner that is used on the Zen theme. Don't want it to be fancy, just something that efficiently shows the status and doesn't interfere too much with the wallpaper.
Thanks Plazmic for a great tool. Hope for an upgrade soon.

I would like the option to create folders and move stuff into them, both for icon and list theme. And ZEN for the 7100i, possibly with the option of the icons running across the bottom instead of down the side.

I support any reasonable request made here. The program is great and the more options the happier the croud.
Zen for the 7100 would be a treat and font options would also be a treat that many would like.
I hope you consider many.

Do you mean as base themes for modification in the Theme builder?
Thanks for your input.

Please be as specific as posible in your requests. And let's keep them to additions and tweaks to the Theme Builder program.
srl7741 what fonts do you mean?
Thanks for your input also

Sorry, yes. I want to be able to use it on my 7250, and as a base that would make it possible for the rest of us, short of that not been possible then if they just plain make the same one that is already available to others to all the platforms.

I think Zen will be available for the 7130e. Not sure about the 7100i or the regular GSM 7100 series, though. It requires 'enhanced theme' support, which I'm not sure if the regular handhelds are capable of. It seems like only the newer 64MB devices are, to be honest. But then again, it could be simply a certain build of 4.1 that enables it. Either way, there is a 7100 series Zen theme, and it should be available here shortly ... just not sure which 7100 handhelds it will be compatible with (I've posted a screenshot).

Also, I'd like to say that I think the major issue for the Theme Builder will likely be stability of the OS with EXTREMELY customized themes (such as the ones Plazmic has made available through the mobile.blackberry site). For that reason alone, I doubt we'll ever see an expanded version of the application, to the extent that we'll have free roam to design whatever we want with little to no constraints. They have given us the ability to cover what they've done with our own eye-candy, and I think that's all we'll get, to be honest.

I agree. I can forsee a lot of issues with "free roam" (as jibi put it) in the theme builder. The eye candy is great and all, but to me it seems that once all of the possible avenues for customization are explored, it will become another one of my "forgotten toys"

I agree that "free roam" is not in the future, but additional base themes are and that is what most of us want. I think multiple banner sets and the ability to change the image on the lock screen are about all that I really want added.

Maybe the ability to interchange particular pieces of multiple themes. such as banner or icon positioning. this would obviously take some work, but I think that it would open the ability to customize 10 fold

Also, what about an included set of icons. That was the hardest part for me when customizing. The icons were a PIA to find

Few things need in Plazmic Theme Builder -
04-10-2006, 04:30 PM
If your on about changes to plazmic theme builder, the ability to move the service icons (messages, answerphone message, etc) date time provider etc around the screen along with changing fonts and images of them all.
Changes to the homescreen font, I like the font, just my theme is red, so the ability to change its inner colour from blue to whatevers selected in the font colour bit.
Ability to make zen like themes, all i want is the home screen part then opening the additional menu goes to another page looking the same but with the next page or sub catagory of links instead of the fade in which is slow on a 7100.
The ability to modify textg menus, so I can add tasks to the root menu and have a games catagory as well as the applications catagory.
Thats all Im after...

I agree the next version of Theme builder should allow you change what items are and are not on the root menu, and the inner color of bb fonts should be changeable like true type fonts change. Global color replace would be helpful, as in where ever this blue occurs in the theme change to this green.

I would love to see a theme much like the Vodafone 8707 pics that have cropped up here with that slick "Today" screen similar to PocketDay!

If they gave me the wave-icon theme to use as a template, I would be more than happy enough. I like the battery and network icons in the top corners like they have it in this one. I like the icons and fonts on that one as well.
I don't like that winged thing they have in the current template, it would just be cool to have a few more templates to get to work with.

AN idea for Plazmic - how to allow more control -
02-10-2007, 06:41 PM
Heya Plazmic... How about a two tiered approach?
First leave the Theme Builder generally alone - it works the same way.
Then create a lower level 'control builder' that ties only the controls into the element space used by the Theme builder. This allows those that only want to skin the existing theme to do so, and those that want to build better versions of the banner and battery controls, etc. to also do so.
Thoughts?
