I created this one for myself but was wondering if anyone else would be interested in it. It's a bit mix and match.
I don't have any means of posting the file on a website though...

MacBerry 8700 -
01-21-2006, 02:38 AM
For Mac enthusiasts, the MacBerry 8700 theme gives you the ability to carry that famous Aqua graphical user interface around with you-- right on your 8700.
User testimonials:
"Cool, I dig it. How many songs does it hold?", Steve J.
"Woa, I thought I was holding the new MacMicro Pro for a second!", Blake, Genius Bar staffer
"I think we have a patent on that somewhere in the basement, I better go look", Don S.

Pretty nice theme Barracuda. Maybe someone else on this forum topic could host it for you. I'd dl it in a heartbeat!

Fonts in Plazmic themes -
01-21-2006, 07:54 AM
Installed Plazmic reader and some themes from this thread. First one I tried worked great (Bliss, all OTA, very easy). Looked just like picture posted here. Loaded several others after that, and also tried one of the themes from the BlackBerry web site. When I selected Bliss again, fonts did not work correctly -- will not recognize change in font type or size, remains tiny squarish font. The BB's original themes still work correctly. Deleted all Plazmic themes and reader, and the theme from BB website. Reloaded Plazmic reader and Bliss theme only. Rebooted BB after each deletion and reload. Fonts still don't work correctly in Bliss.
Any suggestions short of reinstalling the OS? 7100/Cingular/OS 4.1.
Thanks in advance,
JT

As I've mentioned, I can't figure out how to design Bliss so that the fonts obey the settings on the Blackberry. I've posted about this several times and so far no one seems to know. I've read through the documentation for the theme builder as well, but I'm starting to think it's just a limitation of the software right now.

Sorry for missing prior posts. Read through the posts, but not carefully enough I guess. Crazy thing is that it did work the first time. Will reinstall OS and see what happens. Thx, JT

I was asked a while back why i don't change the fonts on my themes. The reason i have not is due to that very problem. The software does not allow for it and causes problems for those who install the theme. So to play it safe i have left the default fonts and size alone. I posted a quote somewhere from the Plastmic forums where they commented on that question.
You can try to change them but they are prone to cause crashes or simply not work at all.
Hope that helps.

Fonts -
01-21-2006, 12:04 PM
Well I created a Road theme a few weeks ago and it seems to be just fine. I too would not follow the Screen/Keyboard fonts (I like BBMillbank, 8pt, bold). Although it worked for all screens, the message and phone lists would not show bold. So I used the Edit->Font in the main screen in Plazmic for bold. It works.

You can make "list text" appear bold by making it anti-aliased in the Plazmic Theme Builder.

Wait...are you saying that if I create a theme and don't touch the font settings AT ALL in Plazmic Theme Builder, they will still be able to be changed by the settings on the device?
EDIT: I just searched through all the plazmic forums for any thread with the word "font" and didn't find any mention of how to handle this problem.

Yes
Changing the font, style and size will affect the deeper screens (such as email text) but not all screens (such as the email message list). This is an issue with the RIM/Plazmic software (listed as SDR 67476) and is beyond your control.
Try it on your device. I can only speak for the 7100.

Can someone make a LA Clippers Theme for the 7100t? Maybe with a pic of Coach Dunleavy yelling for the "call log" icon?

Well, bad news: I started a theme from scratch and didn't touch any of the font face/size settings, but when I loaded it onto my device it still didn't obey the Blackberry's font/size settings. All of the menus and lists were stuck at BBMillbank size 10 (WAY too huge for me, I usually have things at size 6 or 7). Looks like everyone's stuck with whatever font the theme creator picks until Plazmic releases an update for their software.

Really? It works on themes I created for my 7130 (using the 7100). What device do you have?

A 7290. The font inside emails was the right size (I usually use BBMilbank size 6), but all the menus and lists, like the list of messages and the list of Options, were size 10. When I go back to the Default theme, everything in the whole OS goes to whatever size I set it at.

If this has been asked before, please forgive me. I couldn't find anything. Is it possible to take, say, the Bliss theme that mrogers created, or any other theme here for that matter, and import it into the Plazmic theme creator to modify? Am I missing something obvious?

Yes you can modify them but in order to do so you need the original file that was creatwed with a ".thm" extension. You cannot modify either the alx or cod files that you use for installing. So if you can get the .thm file from the original creator you can do it if not WYSIWYG.

I'd like to add my thanks to all of those spending their valuable time making themes for the less artisticly enclined of us - me
My fave so far is the Bliss theme for the 7100...looks fantastic. Has everything I want except for the silly font issue.
MrRogers - understanding the technical limitations, is there anyway to make a version of the Bliss 7100 theme using "BBClarity" font size 7, Plain, antialiasing On?
PIN me if you can do that, would be greatly appreciated.

My thoughts exactly...Thanks KonTiki for you quick answer. That's why I was wondering if it was possible to modify the theme. I'd just like to increase the font size to something bigger that I don't have to get my glasses out for! If the .thm file was available I'd be happy to work on it myself. I may just start from scratch on something myself but, like you, am artistically challenged.

Install using your desktop manager.
Here’s how:
1. Download the file to your PC:
2. Unzip the file to your Desktop.
3. Connect your Blackberry to your computer.
4. Open up Desktop Manager –> Application Loader –> Add.
5. Find the file called “ThemeName.alx” and hit “OK”.
6. Find the file called "Plazmic_Theme_reader.alx" and hit "ok".
After the installation finishes, you can now change your themes by going to Options (wrench icon) –> Theme.
Click to see the rest of the themes …
Notes:
Icons from any third party vendors will show as they normally do, without transparency.
If you have already installed themes using plazmic_theme_reader.alx file in the past no need to re-load that file over again.
hope this helps?

The person that created the theme (in this case the bliss theme) would have to give you the .thm file that it is saved as on their computer so that you can modify it.

If you are in such a hurry download the plazmic software yourself and have a go at it. It is not super easy it is time consuming and people here do it for free. So dont push, chill , and if someone can or wants to they will I am sure.
