First make your solid banner (size, color) then resize your background image to fill the remaining portion of the screen. The background image will still need to be 240x260 but the portion under the banner needs to be such a color or opacity that will not show thru the new banner.

hope this helps a little bit. I often can do, but often can't explain in detail how to do. Hmmm? say that 10x

that is weird. I have the 4.1 hong kong software and used plazmic software. All my themes should be working fine. Sorry my theme might have screwed up your bb. I use the same template for all the themes. So if there were problems i would hear it from everyone. gl

Krad,

The only problem with the tie theme I had is that after downloading the theme and setting it on the device, the banner portion at the top was the blue stripes but the lower portion where the icons were had the plain white BB background. Once I realized that there was also pic like you would use for backgrounds in the file downloaded, I emailed it to myself and set that as the background image in conjunction with using the tie theme. After that it looked just as it did on the image you posted here. Good work. One question, with the themes that you download, is there a way that you can change the font of the menu text. I tried to go into Options-Screen/Keyboard and do it, but it had no effect on the theme.

You need to change the blue one from within the theme builder.

Open theme builder, go find the blue focus icon, click on it, click browse and then choose the new red focus - and presto it is done. If you want to leave the rest of the original theme - just export it and then load it via app loader.

Otherwise - there is no way to change it that I know of.

Actually I'm fine with the fonts, perfectly fine for me.

Only that if one wishes to change the background, the banner still belongs to the Mario theme wallpaper.

Not that I'm not grateful! Yet once you begin customing, the end is simply never in sight.

Ya I agree - I Did the Redwings one and I want to create more - working on a badass one - we need to come up with a "Theme guideline" - is it a theme if only the background has been changed?

I dont know anyhow - wait till you all see this next one..

I downloaded the translucent icons, but i downloaded some extra games. is there a way to add things into the theme builder and if so how would I make and icon translucent. I know this is probably a pain, but I am just trying to learn instead of downloading others.

Icons from any third party vendors will show as they normally do, without transparency.
There is no way to change this with the theme builder at this time.

Well - Correct - we can not change them in theme builder - however, what about dissembly of the software to get the icons out - redo them - and re-import them to the software.

? Anyone have any thoughts about that.

ok so more of a question here, what apps do you guys suggest and methods do you suggest for making themes? i see alot of awesome ones her, but they are mainly for the 8700 and 7100, not the 7520 like i have. instead of waiting for people to convert or attempt 7520, i wanna make my own. from what i gather so far, photoshop is helpful and png images are best? obviosuly i already have the bb apps needed( plazmic and so on) so its more for the actual image creation im questioning
also where are you guys getting the new icons ur using? are you desgining them on your own? or just taking small images and editing them to your liking? i tried using a small image, but since it isnt on a transparent background, it looked weird( ie the background color stood out) any tips/hints for me?

Use photoshop and cut the background out / make the background transparent. Pngs are best because of size - to help keep sizes down.

YOu will want to search around see if there is a theme builder for the 7520 - You might be able to use them after you upgrade to 4.1 software - as far as I know - the themes only work on 4.1 software (thus the reason 7520 doesnt have them) most 7520s dont have 4.1 software availbible to be uploaded to.

just my 2 cents

Good Idea on the guideline..I do feel however if there are any steps to follow Krad's writing them via example every publication.

Still working on my 1st theme to make public..I know I promised one or three.

Great thread this one.

Can you post that clear background. I don't have a spare $300 sitting around to buy Adobe CS2.

grrrr, i kinda got this stuff working , but for some reason my icons just look so small... like when i used some of the otehr themes the icons really stood out, where in the one im making they just look small on the bb, maybe im missing something, but i dont see a way to make em bigger.. maybe im just nutts, but dont they look smaller in this image? i found the icons online, just did a google search for icons and they were on one of the sites i found, all were in png so no conversion was really needed as far as img type..
