Opening already created themes -
04-04-2006, 01:16 PM
Can you open an already created alx file in Plazmic and recreate it?
I am trying to figure out how to take say a 7100 theme, reopen it and save as a 72XX theme. I have as of yet been unsuccessful. I attempted renaming the alx to thm and got an error that it could not open it.

You would need the original .thm file in order to alter it.
If the original .thm file is from a 71xx theme you can not use it for the
72xx theme.
You will have to start fresh with the 72xx theme.
hope that helps?

Ok, this is my first theme I whipped up using transparent icons, it's based on windows XP and i used appropriate icons when necessary
If you're interested in this theme, i would be happy to send it to you. PM me your e-mail address and i'll send it
also, I can send the source file if you're interested in modifying this one on your own
I'm looking forward to continuing the legacy of this great thread in the weeks to come

no relation. that's been my online handle since '95.
so to all you who PM'd me about my first XP theme, it got deleted on my work computer
but here's another one i did that i like personally... professional, yet savvy
XP professional- xpprof.zip - 1.06MB
the zip file contains only the .jpeg of the background, the background in the .thm file is transparent. I could not, for the life of me, get that image converted to .PNG without going over the limit in file size.
please give me comments and suggestions as I post more themes
EDIT 1 (04/05/06 @ 1812 CST): Added a custom Blackberry Browser icon, as i neglected that in the first version because I'm on BIS

*sigh* not an Alabama fan...
going to the Iron Bowl this year? not sure if you ever saw them, but I made a bumper sticker this past season after the game - Honk If You Sacked Brodie - quite funny and it picked up quite the post-game media buzz. anyhow, i'll be up in Tuscaloosa for 5-in-a-row this year (hehe).

abstract theme, a nice change from traditional icons
abstract.zip - 1.08MB
Jeffrc- I'm unaware of how to make this for the 7520. on plazmic, the only options are for the 7100, 8700, and 7200 series. However, you're more than welcome to download that ZIP file. the THM file is included in this folder

The 7200 series should do it for the 7520 (same dimensions).

Hey guys, awesome themes! Would someone be able to do a Toronto Maple Leafs one? I especially like the themes that have the transparent icons until you roll over them, those are great. There's gotta be other Leafs fans out there that would like this as well no?
I'm running a 72xx series.
Thanks so mcuh in advance.
You guys rock. Keep up the amazing work.

By using the OTA download link
or
Desktop Manager:
1. Download the files to your PC:
2. Unzip the file to a Folder. Name the folder with the theme name.
3. Connect your Blackberry to your computer.
4. Open up Desktop Manager –> Application Loader –> Add.
5. Find the file called “ThemeName.alx” and hit “OK”.
6. Find the file called “Plazmic_Theme_Reader.alx” and hit “OK”.
After the installation finishes, re-boot your device.
You can now change your themes by going to Settings –> Options –> Themes.

Transparent Icon Backgrounds -
04-06-2006, 07:08 PM
I have downloaded a ton of cool icons, but I have no idea how to make the backgrounds transparent or to cut the image out. Like cropping it but not in a square so there's still a background. I hope i explained my problem fairly well.
Somebody please answer me
