The themes will only work with 4.1 or higher. Unfortunately you won't be able to use any of the newer themes on the 7200 series. There is no work around as far as I know.

Thanks for the answer. I guess I'm stuck until T-mobile updates the 7230 to 4.1 (if ever)

Maybe a dumb question, and I did search, but how do you create the theme with translucent icons?

I use Adobe photoshop Elements to shop the Icon images. I think is the Brush tool with the Clear Option and Opicicity(sp) set to about 50%.
Hope this helps.

Gotcha, I wasnt sure if it was a setting in the Theme Builder or not. I made a pretty cool Matrix Theme IMO but I want it with icons as opposed to the list theme and with translucent icons.

Open each one in an application like Photoshop, set opacity to 30% or 40% (depending on background) and save in original format (PNG).

If you read the thread throughout you do not have to be that good at it, the software will do most of the work, your extent of the work may be to secure the icons you want to use, maybe scale them to the size you want, and what a lot of people are doing it is to set the opacity to about 50% resave it with a slightly different number so that when it is not highlighted it looks dimmer, and when you scroll over to it the brighter looking icon comes into view. That is about as hard as it gets.

Do you have the Plazmic Theme Reader installed on your BB? Is you OS 4.1?
Both these are required to use the custom themes.
Hope this helps.

Edit
Sorry, I mistyped the name of the AP that needs to be loaded on the handheld. Had it right the first time, but some how it didn't take on posting.

There are two files with an extension of ALX. Both of those need to be loaded the first time. One is a theme reader from Plazmic. After you load that file, all Plazmic themes will work on your device and you won't need to re-load it each time, just the themes.
You do need to be at OS 4.1 on the BalckBerry.

I understand how to do that, I guess my problem is getting the icons I want to use, and then actually capturing that image and making it a png or gif file that I can use. So maybe there is just something easy I am over looking.

Basically aby image will do, Find what you need and then resize the image in the 7250s the size is 240 X 160 pixels (the others are posted around here someplace). It does not need to be a png image, it can be a jpg, etc. Do you have a graphics editor? If you have windows you can even use paint. Remember it is always best to start with a larger image and reduce it than to start with a small and enlarge (it ussually becomes distorted this way).
To capture images you have two choices either right click on it and save it to a file or the desktop, or choose the Print button on the keyboard and paste it onto your graphics editor. However the second way will capture all that is on the screen and you might have to crop to get rid of the extra. I hope that this helps.

I understand how to that, what I can't get is icons that I want. Like if I have icons on my computer, they dont' really seem to have a image extention, or if I get icons from the web, how do I capture that image and use it on the blackberry?

Find an image you like, any image and download it. Open it with the Paint software, resize it using the tab labeled Image, then select stretch/skew. Set the size there to the size you want to use I usually use 50 X 50 (experiment and find what suits you), and i save that image. Then when I use the Plazmic I just go to where it is saved (hint put them all in the same folder and view the folder as thumbnails it is easiest that way) and select it as an icon. You have seen my avatar, this is a sample at 50 X 50, and then that one reduced again.

I may need someone with a 7100 series and previous experience with installing themes to test that one for me. It was built the same way I have done other 7100 themes and they work okay.
For reference, Alien Pursuit is for the 8700 series. Alien World is for the 7100 series.
You can check your OS version by going to Options, About, and looking for the entry near the top that refers to the platform. That number is your OS version.

So when I am out googleing, search for images, instead of for actual ICON's then? That way I can resize them. Gotcha, I thought you guys were takeing actual icons say off of desktop and converting those to be used!

How can themes be working for you if there is no release of 4.1 for those phones yet and all plazmic themes are designed to be used with the 4.1 OS? If you are using the older themes, they work because they were designed for the 4.0 OS, big difference.

The reason is that there are only limited baseline theme formats currently available in the Plasmic CDK. The Insight Baseline is the only one available for the 8700.
Plazmic has indicated this will change in future releases at some later date.
Hope this helps.
