Hey all,

Brand new owner of a 7100g and hate the menu driven ui. Is there a way to change this to an icon based ui? Also is there any way to give this thing a different theme? Thanks in advance.

I just did the same thing and hated it so much I switched to Verizon that has same menu icons as old Nextel.
I tried everything.

Not sure what ferngolf is talking about, but you can certainly change the theme on a 7100g.

First thing to do is download and install v4.1 for the 7100g. There is a sticky thread at the top of the General BlackBerry Discussion forum that has the download locations for most of the carriers. While Cingular has not issued v.4.1 yet, several other carriers have.

Once you have v4.1, you can download tons of themes. Start with http://mobile.blackberry.com and download those.

Then search the Ringtones, Themes and Wallpapers forum for the tons of themes that are out there for the 7100.

umm. yes. you can go to your Options then Themes. it should list you out quite a few icon-based and list-based Themes/UIs. if you upgrade to the latest version of 4.1, you'll have a total of 12 carrier themes. you will also have the ability to load your own icon- or list-based themes (there are a few hundred available here now).

easiest method to get to OS 4.1 with the themes enabled is to read my thread at the link below and follow the instructions EXACTLY.
