Hi all, I'm new here so i wanted to say Hello and welcome myself, I'm Ruben. I just got a blackberry 7290 temporary and I was wondering if it is possible to like send ringtones etc through infrared instead of hitting on wap sites to download them.

No, the infrared is vanity (non working) and ringtones can't be loaded via USB you need to upload and browse to the url via your BB to download. While on the topic your 7290 will only play midi or monophonic ringtones and you need a BlackBerry Data Plan for web access on your BB. Kindly search the Ringtones/Themes/Wallpaper forum for a host of information.
