Options / Themes would be a good place to start.

thanks buddy, but thats the problem I cant see it in that folder. It does however appear in application folder.

To be honest I might be loading the wrong file in the first place.

I am using the application loader tool for blackberry's to load the file, is this correct?

By the way were can I downloading themes for the 7290 anyway?

Thanks again

If it doesn't appear in the themes list, you are loading it improperly. I'll let the gurus in the themes forum help out. There are a couple (read: hundreds) of threads on themes...

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7290/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I'm pretty new to the BB scene but I might be able to help. Make sure you are loading themes made specificly for the 72xx. Themes for any othe model will not work. Also, if you are trying to use themes created by theme builder, you must install the plazmic theme reader before the themes will work.

Here, try this link. There are two options "plazmicreader.zip" or "PlazmicThemeReader" if you are downloading themes to your PC then transferring them, make sure you get the "plazmicreader.zip" but if you plan on installing themes OTA (over the air) then you would get the other one.

Go back to options/themes and your downloaded themes will be available now. Hit space bar to select the theme.

The plazmic reader allows your device to interpret the various themes created by Theme Builder.

you have to be running the BB OS 4.1

go to Options>About to see what version you're running. if it's not 4.1 go to your carriers website to download and install the upgrade

This may also help after checking your os version.

Install using your desktop manager.

Here’s how:

1. Download the file to your PC:
2. Unzip the file to a folder.(name the folder)
3. Connect your Blackberry to your computer.
4. Open up Desktop Manager –> Application Loader –> Add.
5. Find the file called “ThemeName.alx” and hit “OK”.
6. Find the file called "Plazmic_Theme_reader.alx" and hit "ok".

After the installation finishes, you can now change your themes by going to Options(wrench icon) –> Theme.

Notes:
Icons from any third party vendors will show as they normally do.
If you have already installed themes using plazmic_theme_reader.alx file in the past no need to re-load that file over again.

hope this helps

i think in the last 13 posts we kinda covered all that, but it's definately nice to have one of the theme 'gurus' backing us up

Thank you, but still no luck...

I have followed these instructions again, again and again, I feel like throwing the thing accross the office at my IT Managers head!!!!!

The weird thing is it appears in the application folder which is Options folder.

O.S v4.2.35 (Platform 1.8.0.138) Do I need the latest O.S version? If so where can I download it from?

You can download the latest version of the handheld OS from your carrier, or you can choose one from ANY carrier that has the 7290.

This thread - http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-software/1871-blackberryos-4-x-download-faq-upgrade-downloads.html - has information on where to download the OS from.

A simple "search" would have found it.

That doesn't sound right, as far as I know the newest version is 4.1.
Who is your carrier?

There is no 4.2; it's a typo. It has to be 4.0.2.

C'mon guys. There is a Sticky Thread FAQ (thread 1817) which has the location for every carrier. This is not hard.
