Anyway, I would like to use the Vodafone Today theme but the OTA url for this always gives me a 404 error - page not found. Same for the Dimension Today url. Is this because of the OS on my BB or something else. Could anyone offer another url from which I could try a OTA install?
Thanks in advance for any help.

first things first - you can't use the Vodafone Today theme on the 4.1.0.284 handheld software. just trust me on this - its been tested EVERY which way possible already.

Pull your battery and put it back in then try again. Usually does the trick.

Lock screen -
06-11-2006, 11:04 PM
I have the assorted Today themes running -- very nice.
But anyway I can get rid of the Vodafone logo on the lock screen? The map from the today screen would be fine...

@ HuwSy, the UMTS 7100 device has not been announced yet, so i have no clue. maybe these will be available with the 7130g devices, though. there are plans for the 7100 series version, but i wouldn't expect it anytime soon, especially if it doesn't show up with this month's release of the 7130g devices.
@ apple85, i find the issue occurs more when i delete an SMS/MMS while inside the message. one fool-proof way of making sure that its going to go away is to read it, go back to the home screen and make sure its gone from there then go back and delete it. pain in the arse, but a band-aid nevertheless (until its resolved by RIM/Voda).

The 7130C has OS 4.1.321 and has the ZEN and Dimension Today themes.

the 7130g is the same thing as the 7130c. once the software is available from Cingular or O2 or Rogers or StarHub or CSL or Swisscom or whomever else that is lined up to offer it, then i'll make them available for download for the 7100 users to try out.

I'm almost afraid I'm going to wear out the clip that holds my battery door on with all the battery out reboots I've had to do to clear the ghost SMS from my today screen. Too funny Oh well, small price to pay... I think the today screens are great. I just wish PocketDay looked as nice.

It has grown on me. I liked Zen for its minimalism, but if I want to see my cool wallpaper I can lock my BB. Today is a winner.
Two questions:
1) Has anyone noticed any weirdness related to unresponsiveness? I've had a couple glitches but nothing I can put my finger on.
2) My call log shows up as empty on the home screen. Shouldn't the last two calls appear in that space? I have my phone set to log all calls, and these entries are indeed showing up in my message list.

Sometimes it slows down for a moment after I change Profiles but it isn't anything major.
As for Call Logs, all that does is show Missed Calls. Like Messages, it only shows them until you enter the Phone app. Otherwise it's just a shortcut to go into Phone (but I prefer the green key.)
I'm with you on Dimension Today. I now prefer it to Zen.

i like both todays, but dimension lacks the sms separation... too disorganized to go back to that!
voda is good - aside from the ghost sms... heres a tip, do the alt-cap-del to rid your bb of it without a battery pull

I've found an easier work around for the ghost SMS messages than pulling the battery or reseting your BlackBerry.
After having the ghost SMS on your homescreen, go to MENU>SMS MESSAGES. Then scroll to the message that is stuck on your homescreen and click the trackwheel then click MARK AS OPEN. Then click the trackwheel again and click MARK AS READ.
The ghost message should no longer show on your homescreen.

The ghost SMS message problem with Vodafone Today on Rogers is really unfortunate because Rogers sends a special form of SMS notification for voicemails which autodeletes as soon as you have checked your messages. If you use the handy top voicemail icon to check your voicemail, you get stuck with the ghost SMS and have to pull the battery. The solution is to enter the voicemail SMS from the homescreen and click to call voicemail from there. But it destroys one of the nicest features of that theme.

As an extension to this question, is there a thread that has instructions on Zen and modifying, etc.? I don't know that I was successful with my upgrade. I know I have Telstra correctly installed, and I can see and use Jibi's additional Today Themes (Dimension & Vodaphone). But I don't see a Zen Theme, and I don't see how to change the backgrounds. I'm sure there's a thread with it, but searching Zen Theme is a little too global to find the answer. Suggestions?

You know, after thinking about my post above (and receiving an email from Marc - thanks!), I realized I'm an idiot [me and Phil Mikelson]. I do know how to do the above, I just didn't remember because it wasn't something I "was" doing regularly. For those that are still in the dark...
1) Dimension Zen is the Zen Theme. That one does allow you to modify order of applications, etc.
2) Millions of great images available here, or on Seattle18's site (and others). Download an image and email it to yourself.
3) On your BB, save that image to your Pictures.
4) In pictures, select that image, click the trackwheel and select "Set as Home Screen Image".
Done. I'm back to being an idiot...

Ghost SMS -
07-12-2006, 07:24 AM
This ghost sms problem we're experiencing. . . is this just a bug that will be fixed later, or is it because we're running the theme and the telstra OS on different hardware than intended ? It's a real pain when I've deleted the message and THEN notice that it's still on my today screen.

all email function lost with today theme- help -
07-12-2006, 04:02 PM
Hey,
Please help me out. I am with Rogers in Canada and installed the TELSTRA track perfectly and all installed without a problem (using TODAY theme).
I have the phone working and Rogers and EDGE on the screen. I can no longer receive email messages, and I receive a message titled "no message services configured. You will only be able to save draft" when I try to compose.
I have tried ALT CAP DEL and removing the battery and neither works, I also used Options/Advanced Options/Host Routing Table, click track wheel then select register now, and get a reply that states "your handheld has been registered with the wireless network.
Please help!
Thanks in advance,
Martin

Try logging into your blackberry page (where you set up your email accounts) and have it re-send your service books. That will clear up your problems.

Question for Jibi -
07-13-2006, 09:48 PM
Dimension Today has two bugs - one, just really sluggish compared to other themes, two - clicking on profiles (at the bottom) works only if you are in the Normal profile, does not do anything with any other profie. Any thoughts on how one could get rid of these two bugs?

Hi,
I've a problem. When I try to download the over OTA file for the vodafone today theme on my blackberry, the download start and then hang after something like 10 or 20%. Each time I try I have the same problem.
I try to put the file on another server and got the same problem.
Any ideas?
Is there any other simple solution to install it without OTA?
Thanks for your help.

The second bug is an interesting one because in the Beta version it wasn't there, i.e. clicking on the icon worked in all profiles. (Otherwise the official release did improve on the Beta.) Nothing you can do to address the bugs except wait for the next release
