what bb are you using? 8700/7130/8100 uses mp3 so theres no need to convert. just surf and download. but from what i understand 7100 series minus the 7100i uses .adp files; which is a compressed wav. personally heres my techique.
i convert the mp3 to a wav with expstudios audio converter. you can find it @ download.com
use windows sound recorder (start > accessories > entertainment). the one that comes with windows. to shorten the wav file to 15-20secs long. you can do this by clicking edit delete before or after the marker. play 15-20 secs then delete after the marker. bam 20 secs of audio. save that with a short name like blah.wav
download multimedia studio. mmcenter.exe. i cant tell you exactly where you can download b/c im lazy. its somewhere on this board. do a search it will probably come up. basically you open the .wav file in the program. then click save as.. and choose the adp option.
then you want to upload it to a certain server that allows transfers of adp files. most wont since its a rarely used file extention. but huenik.com/blackberry guy was kind enough to let people upload to download ringtones. theres a upload option @ the bottom of the page. enjoy your cool tones.
