Don't see why not. I will make sure to put in on the list. Batch processing is top of the list though...

I have done what you said, but where do I get the Videos to download from? Sorry for probably asking a stupid question, but I am new to the BB Movie world, but really hope I can do this.

Thanks,

Are there any new code for mencoder to use with the new TIM Italy OS? Since upgrading, all my videos aren't working.

Thanks.

I would check the validity of your microSD card. I don't think that RIM would change video format mid-stride just for a OS update.

I have bought movies so I could convert them to watch on BB when traveling. So far I have not been able to convert them because of the copyright. Is there anyway I can get around that.

Baconismidog, thanks for replying. I took your advice and tested my microSD card with my brother's Pearl and all is fine (he is using the latest T-MO OS). I was reading up on the TIM Italy post and it seems that other users are experiencing video playback problems as well. I might just chalk this up as a buggy OS and will probably downgrade if there are no solutions.

Thanks.

I have an MSDN webcast series in the .WMV format. These webcasts are free to the public.

Now, when I use BBVC, it does convert them but only video comes correctly but audio is very very bad, any special settings needs to be done ?

Also in general every once says here in this forum that after conversion the size of the file decreases but i have 11 MB .WMV file that converts in to 57 mb .avi file.

Any suggestions please !!

4. Change the Target to: C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe
5. Click Apply
6. Click OK
7. Now click on the Shortcut to mencoder.

Note that with the above code, the <output file> has to be an avi, but the <input file> can be just about anything you can play on your computer.

Also Note that if your input file is widescreen, this will compress it down to Pan-and-Scan ratios. You can play with the "scale=240:180" option for widescreen input and output.

Works like a dream.
thanks.. this works perfectly.

Please include a link to these free webcasts in your reply. Let some of us give it a shot, and try to get the audio/video to work well.

Thanks,

cut/pasted from OP text. Added c:\pro..., same error. Any help is appreciated.
i was having the same problem. the file that youre searching for has to have a oneword name. rename the file you want to convert to a one word name and then run the program. ie "nypd blue season 3" needs to be renamed "nypdblueseason3". that should clear up your problem

I just logged in and noticed this post. Seabyrd Technologies released a BlackBerry Video Converter based on the source code of MPlayer. And I have to say it does video files & DVDs quite well...
I have placed their link below:

Those are not really "movies" in the traditional sense. It is a series of screenshots with an accompanying audio track, basically a powerpoint presentation with a few in-presentation screen capture movies. What it looks like Micro$oft did to save space was to repeat the same screenshot until something changed while the audio continued to roll. This would make sense and would save a lot of resultant size.

The bad part is that when you convert this type of a video to a regular video using mencoder, mencoder will remove duplicate frames (~7,000) from the converted video. This phenomenon renders the converted video useless.

I can confirm that the original video was ~40 mb, the resultant video was 113 mb. The process to convert took exceptionally long (30min), monopolized up to 60% of my processor (P-D 3.46) and up to 180,000 ram (1gb DDR2 667). The result was a useless video file. All these stats are completely non-standard and unexpected for a normal video.

Hello all,
New member here... I did read from page 1 to page 5, then it just seemed redundant, from what I've gathered is that there are at least 3 different methods; mplayer, super, blackberryvideoconverter. I did download all 3 and installed it but have not been able to properly test it on a bb since my card hasn't arrived yet, however, I do have an ISO movie that I backed up using dvdshrink, the total file size comes out to be 4.5gb and when converted using super I get roughly about 450mb using the avi container/H263/mp3 - video 352:288/4:1/14.985/576 - audio /2/64/default. When I tried to test it, I was able to hear the sound fine but not video, did I do something wrong? I could go and try the other exes but since I can't properly test it I don't want it to be a waste of time. Basically I just want to use 1 method if possible with the best quality and stick with it, your recommendations is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

What is the average time it takes to convert a full length movie using mencoder with the Blackberry Video Converter? Im sitting on 1 hour now converting Goodfellas, mpg file.

Edit: By the way Goodfellas is 3 hrs long, should I just not even try?

Depends on a lot of things:
Original length
Original bitrate
Original aspect
CPU speed
CPU availability
GPU speed
GPU availability
Memory speed
Memory availability
etc....

Could be 45 min, could be 3 hours. As long as the file is not encrypted there is no reason it would fail...

Patience...
