Default making ringtones on 8100 - 11-11-2006, 07:02 PM

I'm making ringtones out of MP3s with Sound Forge and I was wondering if the experts in this field would mind telling me what are the settings I should use.

I'm assuming i want them to be monophonic, but what should I be using for sampling and bitrate on these?

The other issue I'm having about sampling is that unless I save the converted mp3 ringtone at 44khz, it plays too fast. Is this just an issue with Soundforge, or will all sound editor alter the tempo to compensate for different sampling rates?
