Default Ringtones-8700c.. what am I doing wrong. - 01-17-2007, 11:47 AM

Just got an 8700c, followed all the FAQ I can find.
Im using Cingular.

I can see web pages just fine.

Went here..
Ring'o'Trade
Try to d/l a ring tone, I get an error

"The Requested Page can not be displayed"

Ive tried attaching it to an email via Gmail, same error.

Is the file too large? Im using ringtones found on this site
Ring'o'Trade

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using the cingular browser or the web browser? I use the web browser for downloading and it works every time. Try downloading opera mini and keep that installed. I find that some pages aren't displayed properly with the browser that came with the phone so I use it as backup.

Yep.. using cingulars web browser.

Downloaded to mini browser.
It says it needs to close out the browser to download the file. I said yes.
It opens the cingular browser, and gives me the same error.

Maybe it's the song you are trying to download? I've tried tried a couple with my cingular browser. Some songs came out garbage, but "Still Tippin" by Mike Jones played fine. It's under mixed ringtones. Try that song and see if it works.

U tried on your other browser and NOT the cingular browser? If so try one other thing....clear the cache on your BB browsers. Then attempt again.

Sorry I assume you know how to clear your browser cache on your BB. If not here you go.

Browser – options – Cache Operations

Let's try this.....

Navigate to this site on your pc and upload your mp3 ringtone. Coolservice.dk

Then navigate to this site on your BB and enter in the code.

I'm ready to just give up.
I wonder if my phone has restrictions on it?

The first url you navigate to on your PC. The second url you navigate to on your BB. Looks like you did both on your BB. You are able to navigate to other sites and view pages on your BB browser correct?

LOL, I uploaded the MP3 on my PC
I went to the URL, entered my code on the BB.

Showed pictures of the page I went to onmy BB to enter the code (proving I can browse on my BB fine)
The other one is the error I get (showing the filename in the upper left corner).

The file is really small too..

One last thing...not sure if it will work or fix the problem. Try maybe resending your services books and re-regestering the Host Routing table.

Then attempt to clear the cache for all your browsers.

Wouldnt that be done when I wiped it and reloaded from scratch?

BTW, can they be attached to an email? Do I need to be on a BES?
