Exclamation Custom Theme Caused Errors - 01-17-2007, 06:25 PM

After loading a new theme I built using Theme Builder my 7100t is stuck on BB Dimension-Icon. If I try to switch to a different one I get an error that says "Uncaught exception: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException". I tried uninstalling the new theme and nothing changed. Any idea as to what went wrong and how to fix this? I absolutely hate icon themes and now that is my only option.

I am using a 7100t with software version 4.1.0.309 and the theme I created was based off of the list theme that comes with Theme Builder.

I am in the process of a full wipe to fix the problem but if anyone has any idea as to what caused it that would be helpful for future reference. Maybe I did something wrong in Theme Builder, it was my first attempt at using it.

****Full wipe didn't fix anything, now the problem is worse! Attached is a screenshot of what my BB looks like now. I REALLY NEED HELP!!!

Use Javaloader to wipe the device and reload the OS.

Doug

Remember, please try searching first!

Need a screenshot? ... Like JavaLoader?
Try using BBscreen .....Use JL_Cmder!
or BBScreenShooter!

TribAI,
As to what caused your custom theme to crash i don't know. But I do know that your screenshot is that of BB with "no" theme installed. I have this happen occasionally when I update a BB that had themes unlocked, with an OS version without themes unlocked. It tries to find the theme that was installed previously but can't and then loads no theme. I am usually able to navigate to the tools page and load another theme. Options are in the little pocket knife icon. Then just scroll down to themes, click the wheel. It will say "none." Scroll down and see if any other themes are there and select one. To select it just click the wheel twice. It can be difficult to read sometimes but it's fixable. If there are no themes in there then you need to check your blackberry.alx file and your java directory to make sure the themes are set to install.

Hope this helps.

d_fisher - I did that (6 times, talk about a wasted day). But thanks for the suggestion, I wasn't specific when I said I wiped it.

John Clark - Thanks for the info, I had figured out how to get to the themes options but it stuck me with BB-Dimension Icon theme again.

Finally I did get normal themes back by downgrading the OS and then upgrading from a different computer. I want to make my own custom themes but until I figure out what caused this I'm a little afraid to (wasted about 9 hours of my day). Is there any chance that themes from other vendors might have caused the error? In the Application Loader it shows that I still have themes from Vodafone, O2, and Orange from back when that was the only mod we could do for the themes.

Also I noticed on my new instalation that actually worked that it doesn't list themes at all in the Application Loader but on the one that messed it up they were listed. I also have one of Plazmic's themes currently installed from their website if that might have been the cause.
