Question I need BIG help!!

Hey everyone,

I recently bought Pearl & I love it, it gets smarter everyday lol
Anyways, the issue is that I downloaded the ColorPearl thing & it was working great however I noticed that when I went to play my music in the media it would just show:

Unable to display file/Media Card/Blackberry/music/name of song

The same thing also happened with the ringtones and pictures.

I posted this issue yesterday and JSanders helped me (thank you)

However I did what he told me and erased the ColorPearl and still nothing changes.

I also noticed that when I when to select the Help icon this showed:

Error starting net_rim_bb_help: Module net_rim_ecmascript not found

I don't know what to do its driving me insane!

Please someone help me!!

It sounds like the OS might have gotten corrupted. You might have to restore ur software using DM.

Well like I said I'm new at this so... what's the OS and how do I restore it using Desktop MAnager?

You never posted back if you tried that, so I didn't know whether you did. Welcome.
OS = Operating System.

Did you pull the battery and reboot the BB? Still getting the error?
Look at Options > Advanced > Applications. Look and make sure NO ColorPearl remains. While in Applications, click menu to MODULES. Scroll through ALL of that and see if you see any module of ColorPearl left. If so, delete it.

Reboot again. If you still get the error, then post back. You very well may need to reload your OS.

Hey I looked for any traces left of ColorPearl and there's nothing left.
I also went to the Cingular store and the guy just told me to do an update that it was because probably some music file or something I uploaded was corrupted.
He told me to go to BlackBerry and find where it says Downloads or update or something like that; I did but couldnt find anywhere that said download or update.
Also, everyone else is been telling me that I need to reload the OS and you tld me what the OS means, however I dont know how to do it or where to find that update. If you could give me a few tips or help thatd be great.

urlilgurl017,

The update the Cingular guy is talking about and reloading the OS is the same thing.

Look at your BB > Options > About where it says Ver. (about the 2nd or 3rd line), and that is your version. You can reload the same one, or update it to a newer one, your choice.

What version is it now?

Including (if not mentioned there) to backup your 8100 now, before you begin any of this, as well make sure you have it synced to Outlook or something on your PC.

Ahhh perfect! Everything is back & working smoooooothly =]. Thank you very much for the help.

I have another question though; do you think it was the ColorPearl that did that?

A ColorPearl is a program you upload to your BB and it changes the color of your trackball, though it seems pretty cool it has caused some issue =/

And dont worry your not the only one, I did some research and its happened to a lot of people.
