Default "Itunes Agent" - Sync Itunes and Any MP3 Player (including blackberry) - 07-05-2007, 03:57 PM

Linky goodness:
iTunes Agent

Appears to be a small app that resides in the system tray, adds a playlist to itunes for your device, and gives you an option to sync the device to the playlist.

I'm syncing for the first time now, and it seems to be doing its job. Pretty cool.

I've had huge issues in the past with this wiping mp3 players on me because the playlist in itunes was empty. I also found it slow as dirt

It might have improved but I won't use it again.

You're right, it is very slow and unless you're prepared to leave it over night, orr sync it while you're at work, you're probably right that this severely limits the functionality of this.

In terms of wiping the device, somehow I knew that it would do that if the playlist was empty, so I just mapped the itunes agent to a subfolder in the blackberry music folder.

I just installed this and gave it a try. I didn't have any songs on my BB to start with. I set up a new device in Agent and mapped it to a playlist I created in Itunes for the BB. It looks like it worked correctly albeit a little slow as the posters above mentioned. Overall though this looks like a very easy way to keep my 8830 synced with an itunes playlist.

Ok..now that I think about it...how is it that my BB is able to play purchased songs from Itunes using this? Normally, if they are copied to another player / machine you have to authorize that machine etc...not so with this. I just sync'd them over and they play..wonder if it is stripping drm off of them in the sync process?

It could be playing the music then capturing the audio? (wildly guessing here)

I have a WIN XP Pro setup and a BB Curve (8300).

I want to test this app. I added the BB Curve as a device under preferences and configured it as follows:

Sync Pattern: iTunes
Music Folder: Blackberry\Music
Recognize by folder/file: iTunes
Associate with Playlist: Use device name

With the device connected via USB, and WIn can see the storage card, and with iTunes is closed, I go to sys tray and select "synchronize" and it returns "no device found". Strange when I was able to browse to the music folder on the device's card to set the preferences above.

Am I doing something wrong?
