What size are the files after you rip them? I think it might play .mp4, but I know that it plays .3gp

the free blackberry video creator does the same thing... did i mention it was free? I converted Spiderman3 yesterday and some sopranos episodes, and everything looks beautiful on the curve. I originaly bought some converter software, but the audio was out of sync w/ the video... the free one works the bomb

what free stuff? I looked in the bb software and didn't see anything for video. Just audio. I've been using hand brake and it's working well.

Any more info on the free bb video software and where to get it, let me know. All I saw was a place to buy it from roxio

if you like the DVD ripper program, and are familiar with it.
the screen size is 320x240 the same as iPod video. select that size.
what i do, is lower the sound quality. lowers the size of the movie quite a bit. almost in half... think about it, you are watching a video on a small screen with for the most part 2 speakers (headphones or the like) you won't be able to tell the difference in sound quality.
up to you though.

the link above when you d/l it says it's corrupt..

Seabyrd Technologies - Blackberry Video Converter found the site for it

I use Handbrake 0.8.5b1:

And all videos run smoothly with these settings:
File format: MP4
Codecs: MPEG-4 Video/AAC Audio
Encoder: XviD
Average Bitrate: 500
Picture Settings resized to 320x(whatever) keep aspect ratio so if 4:3 it's 320x176
Audio:
Sample Rate: 44100
Bitrate: 96
Stereo

File has roughly 1/10 of the original size. You can increase/decrease the average bitrate depending on how you feel the picture quality is sufficient for you.

Oh, but mainly I use visualhub for encoding. It eats every format (WMV, FLV, whatever) and is amazingly fast.

Regards,
Ralf
EDIT:
I use the "same as source" framerate setting.

you can do as low as 300 with the average bitrate...

I've been trying to rip Star Wars Episode I to play on my BB ...I can't figure this out and it's getting really frustrating. I'm going to start combing the site now to see if I see some instructions for using this thing; but if anybody knows the best way and can post instructions, that'd be great!

Hey guys ...I'm having trouble with this. I "backed up" my DVD using DVD shrink. Next I chose one of the .VOB files to see if it plays and it does. Next ...well I tried a whole bunch of different combinations of settings in the Blackberry Video Converter and nothing seems to be working. The closest I come is I have sound but no video in Windows Media Player. When I try to copy that file to my BB, I get an error message.

Any ideas?
