Default Media Manager missing on VISTA machine - 07-21-2007, 05:07 PM

I have tried everything to get media manager loaded onto the DESKTOP MANAGER. I have tried what others have suggested, to right click on exe and run as admin. I am the admin and it doesn't allow me to right click. Please help. I really want to load music into my BB

thanks

diam, have you tried simply loading and installing Desktop Manager, Version 4.2, Service Pack 2?

Download the file here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22

The, double click (left--not right) on the exe file which you download to install the file. Media Manager will be a part of the Desktop Manager. When open Desktop Manager, there will be an icon for Media Manager, click that to run it.

This is what I've been trying as well, but if you read on the forum a lot of people are having trouble with 4.2 SP2, in that DM opens and closes right away. Now that I've done that, I can't even get 4.2 SP1 up and running anymore either (had it running before I tried SP2). C'mon RIM.

Hey Xaneth...2 things... Is your User Account Control turned off? If it is, turn it back on, and try the installation again. If your UAC is ON, and it still doesn't work, right-click on the Desktop Manager installer and select "Properties". Click on the "Compatibility" tab, and change it to Compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2. If that still doesn't work, got to the RIM support page, and check if there's any support available... hope that helps.

Yes, my UAC is disabled. I'll try it with UAC enabled to see what happens. Also, as a side note guys, try Shift-right click to see the additional sub menu items that come up. One is "run as administrator".
