Default slow file transfers to bberry over USB

I've got a 2gig microSD card in my 8800... i've tried copying files using both the bberry desktop manager as well as with mass storage mode, but in either case it seems my max transfer speed peaks around 600KB/sec. is this a limitation with microSD or the bberry? 600k seems pretty damn slow.

the microSD card i'm using is made by patriot, but i've talked to a few coworkers who are using other brands and are getting similar speeds.

I should add the card is rated at 60x, which according to my findings should be around 9MB/sec.

I would guess it is an issue with the Blackberry. As a test, put the microSD card in a USB 2.0 card reader and manually copy the file or files over via Windows Explorer. I would guess you will see a huge difference.

I recall seeing some other threads along this same line of questioning. I recall someone saying that the BB may only be USB 1.0 compliant - but don't hold me to that. It was suggested, but I am not sure if it was actually confirmed.

yeah.. the microSD card came with an SD adapter so I'll try that tonight... i'm wondering if bluetooth for file transfers is any faster than via usb cable? i can't see myself taking the SD card out just to copy mp3s and vids to the bberry.

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

My general experience has been transferring to and from a card in a device is far slower than directly to and from the card. I haven't done it with a blackberry so I don't know what normal rate to expect, but I'm not surprised that it is slow.
