What kind of file is it? It it's a .BMP, you can change it to a .jpg or .jpeg and that will reduce the size considerably. Otherwise you may need some photo editing software to resize it or crop it.

If you want the photos for wallpaper, I think the screen size for the 8320 is 320 x 240 pixels. The maximum size file you can put on the BB is 2.86 MB according to John Clark:

With no media card, the maximum file size is 2.86Mb. I don't recommend moving files this big to your device memory. You will end up losing call logs and emails when memory gets too low.

The windows photo editor that comes in XP works fine for me, it lets you convert to .bmp or .jpg and allows you to adjust size. Might wanna try that
