it started at 0000hrs EDT, thus 2100PDT. fill in the blanks as your time zone requires.

you probably incorrectly assumed it would begin at 0200EDT like usual... they need the full 8 hours for this upgrade.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8100 Pearl)

Interesting. As I write this on my BB, It's 1:55am on Saturday Morning in Pittsburgh, and I can surf the net and access the forums on my BB. What outage? :-D

My BIS seems to be active at the moment too.

Hope the outage occurs. Looking forward to HTML email...

as far as i know there are no MAJOR outages. I just checked our outages and the only outage thats affecting a lot of markets is data latency and messaging latency. so it's possible that your data services are greatly impacted if there is a bad outage in your area. But it's not just California that's affected by it. otherwise our tools show almost no other major outages for voice or outages that prevent you from doing anything. Try logging into your bis account and deleting your email addresses from there and re-validating them. We ususally fix 90% of our BIS issues that way. It Also could be that you are getting email but they just aren't getting to you right away. My tool shows Latency in data and messaging but nothing that says email is down. I do know our outgoing server for email was down for the past few days so just go into your bis and delete your email accounts pull the battery out of your phone and re-add them so you get those pretty brand new service books. BY THE WAY ALL YOU BIS GURUS BIS 2.5 IS LAUNCHING ON THE 29TH! So there may be an outage on email over the weekend with BIS but RIM will notify you any outage that would be affecting blackberry customers

I'm not getting any email right now either so I came here to see if it was just my Blackberry or not. I'm curious, as I've never gotten an email telling me of an outtage prior to it happening, is there a way to sign up for such notifications some how?

No, the only time you would be notified that there is an outage on your blackberry would be from RIM. and your carrier would let you know

Is the outage because of the BIS 2.5 upgrade that is supposed to happen?

Anything I have to do on my end once the upgrade is done to be able to get HTML email, etc?

ya that will happen because of the upgrade. once the upgrade happens. visit your bis account and you can upgrade to 2.5 from there with the click of a link. like always with blackberry! I love RIM. just like when they went from 1.8 to 2.4 login to your account and there will be a link in there asking you to upgrade to 2.5

The upgrade is for RIM's servers, not necessarily the carrier BIS. This gives the carriers the ability to upgrade, though it is unlikely they are upgrading the same time. Tmo is supposed to be tonight, hopefully AT&T will be shortly as well. *moving to network outages forum*

I get notifications from the company. I guess one of the perks to being on BES with a defense company.

And email is working fine now
