On the BB, click on the properties for the for the the Sony Ericsson device. Is it set to a trusted device?

When you send from the sony device, does it show receiving or anything on the BB? If not, what exactly is happening? Any errors or anything?

no errors or anything, the bb goes to the part where you want to store the file and the sony says connecting, i then press ok on the bb and it says transferring then all of a sudden the sony says lost connection and the bb says transfer failed.

Sounds more like an issue with the Sony than the BB. Can you transfer the other direction?

As in a size limit....not sure. I've only ever done it with ringtones and only from other BB devices.

just tried a ringtone and a photo both ways but it still gets to the same point where it starts to load and then just stops, so frustrating, this is my first bb and if this carries on i think it might be my last. i have tried turning them both off then back on.

I had the same issue when trying to transfer. Mine is a company BB 8820. When I spoke with IT dept it turns out Bluetooth transfer of data is disabled at the server to stop virus creaping in as it is used for both e-mail and phone.

Are you connected to your company's BES server?

craigyboy, I can't help with the BT issue--didnt think what you are trying was even possible with a blackberry--but want to say welcome to the group!
