Talking New BlackBerry User - 11-08-2007, 06:03 PM

Hey!! I just got my blackberry and so far I love it. There are just a few things that I wish I new so I could see if its just how the phone works, or if I can change it.

Default newbie question - 11-11-2007, 03:35 AM

Just got my bb on Tuesday and loving it so far.

A few questions though:
1. How do I subscribe the thread?
I can't find the subscribe button/function everywhere

2. I don't know how to use the App Loader.
I got the error message just as described on the FAQ:" No additional applications designed for your device were found"

On the FAQ, it is said that:
"The handheld OS on your PC must match the handheld OS on your BlackBerry, or you will be asked to upgrade to the OS installed to your PC."

a. OS on the PC = Desktop Manager?
b. OS on the phone version v4.2.2.170 (platform 2.5.0.30)
Desktop Manager version: 4.2.2.14 ( April 26 2007)
How do I match the OS?, I tried to DL the latest OS for both the Phone and desktop, but the version that I got is different for each.

Thanks

You must have the OS software installed on your computer as well as desktop manager. The OS software should be same as what you have on the blackberry. If it is newer, you will be prompted to upgrade.

It's been too long since I installed an application from the computer. I don't remember the details. What I recall is unzipping the installer, running the installer, then launching desktop manager. Either the app loader in desktop manager recognized the new software automatically and asked me if I wanted to install, or it simply appears in the list and I checked it to be installed. That's the way I remember it. Hope that's enough to get you started.
