Default What's Up? - 11-16-2007, 02:46 AM

Yet another BB newbie here, I bought my first smartphone from Verizon about a year ago, the infamous Motorola Q. It's a decent phone, but I (and many others) felt they stiffed its users on basic should-have features (like a better alarm clock, notepad lacking, calender stinks). Also, it runs the infamous Windows Mobile 5, which has become very prone to acting up the past 3-4 months. So, I just bought a pair of 8703e's off Ebay and am preparing to make use of one, mainly by playing around with it. Any suggestions to easing the switch from WM to BB?

Welcome to the group, SterlingMist! See blackberryfaq.com and get an idea what's there, and then play, play, play. When you are at the faq, pay attention to the section on buying a used blackberry. Though you've already done it, you'll find leads on what to look at when/if you start troubleshooting.

Welcome. Lots of help here. The FAQ is a great place to start - it's really comprehensive.

Thanks for the warm reception, everyone! I actually wish I'd read the FAQ's a little more closely, as I didn't see the one on buying a used BB off Ebay. I ended up winning an auction on a pair of 8703e's, both of which had water damage. For the same price, he's offering me another 8703e with a holster, both extended and regular batteries and covers, and a case (original pair had no accessories). I'm going to call VZW and check the ESN then I'll probably take him up on his offer.

*goes back to reading the FAQ's*

I actually managed to get in touch with the seller and he's going to exchange one of the "bad" BB's for another 8703e with the extended and regular batteries, holster, and no water damage!

And the FAQ is fantastic! Tons of good info that I still need to review!
