Question Safe to upgrade OS if on corp BES?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello, Presently on v4.1.0.194 on 8700c. Company BES, Microsoft Exchange. Assuming I follow correct procedures for the OS upgrade (using DT Mgr and following John Clark's link - including the vendor.xml delete after installation of upgrade file to PC) do I risk the wrath of my IT Dept by upgrading to the 4.2 T-Mobile (universal GSM/GPRS) ? Does an upgrade to the handheld OS result in any disconnect problem with my BES? I searched quite a while and didn't seem to find previous post on this particular concern -- hope I didn't miss... Many thanks and happy holidays!

Yes, you risk the wrath of your IT Department.
You should absolutely check with them first. They may not support OS version 4.2 on their BES. If it's a corporate device on a BES, you should always consult your IT department before making modifications to your BlackBerry.

Upgrading the OS will definitely disconnect you from the BES entirely.
You will need to contact your BES administrator and have them provide a new activation code and do a new Enterprise Activation on your handheld in order to get connected again.

Welcome to the forum!
