Hey guys

I'm actually so new to blackberry that I don't even have on yet lol But I was doing research on the two models I'm interested in and I found these forums I'm still deciding between the 8300 or the 8100 (I'm leaning towards the 8100) but I still have to go to T-mobile and try them out before I decide.

I love phones and get a new one every few months, mostly I'm a Sony Ericsson/Nokia girl but I decided to go with a phone that had more capabilities and the more I researched the more I liked what Blackberry had to offer. I probably wont be able to get one until about 2 weeks from now (I have to pay all those Christmas bills lol) but I'm really looking forward to meeting a lot of new people and getting some good advice

Welcome aboard! Glad you found the Forums. I think this is prob the BEST site for BB info out there. Grats on your BB decision. Hope you enjoy it. Out of curosity, what factors are you considering when deciding between those 2 models?

Welcome to the group, alely!

Word of caution: Blackberrys are different. Don't make any assumptions you'll be able to do this or that based on what you know from previous devices you've used. Playing with the devices is good. Also, look through blackberryfaq.com, and even download and read the quickstart guides for the devices you are looking at.

Good luck!

Thank you :D

Honestly, the only deciding factors between the two were the qwerty size, wi-fi, and overall size of the phone.

Since reading through the forums, I realized Wi-fi was not as big of an issue as I though since it looks like you must get a data plan with t-mobile in order to use any of the IM features and e-mail/web-browsing. I used to have an HTC MDA which I could run on wi-fi and use said features with-out a data plan and thought that I could do the same thing, but since it looks like trying to do it that way is extremely hard/near impossible I started leaning towards the 8100. So wi-fi I could do with or without.

Keyboard and size I still have to go check out, in all honesty it pretty much comes down to if I want to spend $200 more dollars to get wi-fi and a bigger keyboard, since I will be purchasing this for retail value.

Thank you :D

Yes I've been reading and they look a bit more complicated than what I've been used to, but I am fully prepared to learn what is needed Thank you for the quick start guide idea! I will be doing that :D
