Default First BB, not satisfied - 02-13-2008, 10:15 PM

Just got my curve 2 about 2 months ago. I don't use it for emailing, you can't make the track ball color change or led light.. Kinda feeling like maybe it was a waste of money in my situation =/....I don't use the internet because my plans are generally 140 bucks a month and I don't want to spend more than that....

you spent the money on an organizer then. Without even basic MediaNet Internet thats basically what the BB boils down to. Oh, and a good media player as well. Not great, but better than many. welcome to the forum

It's a great phone/organizer though. Why did you choose the BB to begin with?

Welcome to the group just the same, Bucsfanatic59. You sort of have an RV parked in your yard and no gas. But like JC says, you can at least live in it. Maybe one day you'll have some gas and drive it out of the yard.

Got a deal on it to renew my contract with AT&T. I dont need an organizer really...Didnt know anything about the phone, it just seemed to do some amazing things. I told the guy I didnt need anything to fancy or hi-tech as I don't use things like that and I didnt want to add features to raise the cost of my bill per month as they were high enough. The camera is nice, but I've noticed things I didnt like compaired to some lower grade phones..No camcorder, and alot of picture texts I get don't show up as they did on lower grade phones.

Then again, maybe when I learn the things it can actually do, I'll get some enjoyment out of it...

well strictly speaking you would need a data plan to properly enjoy MMS. Camcorder, rumored to be in the next OS update.

A BlackBerry is a little boring without a data plan. Video will be coming for the Curve in a the next couple of months.

Do you have a generic data plan, or can you aford one? See http://blackberryfaq.com/index.php/H...eric_Data_Plan.

Also, you have wifi capability, correct? Is that of some use to you?

I do have unlimited internet on my plan right now. I told the guy I deliver beer for a living. I make and receive texts/calls. I wanted a nice phone that did those well with a nice camera basically...

I would get a Pearl with or without a data plan.

Yes it is better with email and internet, but just the fact I can have the calendar and contacts sync (what other phone is going to play a different ringtone for your contacts?), along with a camera, video and handy dandy flashlight. You can use it as an mp3 player. Oh, I forgot the truly excellent voice dialing - look ma no hands!

The fact it can do email is only a small portion of its appeal, at least to me.

This phone just randomly shuts off too. I'll look at it and its on, then get a text and its off or just off by itself...

"off" as in you have to hold the power button, wait for the hourglass etc? Or "off" as in you have to hit a button to make it light up and it didn't make any sound when a call or text came in?

Off as in it powers down and you have to hold the power button for it to turn back on....Also every once in awhile the camera wont zoom, I have to take the battery out and reboot it.....

bucsfanatic, welcome to the forum!

I'm a Curve user also. My first BB experience was very challenging and I took the device back to the phone company after a week! It's going waaay better the second time around and I'm really glad I gave the Curve a chance.

As the other members are saying, it's good to have a clear idea of what your BB can do, what your needs/desires are, and how well these things are aligned.

If you give yourself some time to play with it, it just might grow on you!
