Hello everyone! I just purchased a refurbished 8700 off ebay to replace my lost tmobile prepaid cell phone. I plan on using this as a prepaid phone (can't do anything else my credit sucks). I am wondering what functionality I am going to have access to. Also, any tips on how to unlock as much of the phones functionality while a prepaid user would be appreciated. Also, is there a way to subscribe to the blackberry network without having to go through the rigamarole of signing up for a calling plan. Basically, I don't mind paying 30 bucks a month to unlock all the features if I can: A) continue to use prepaid and B) sign up for the extra feautures with out a credit check.

Sorry for the fragmented thought process... it's been a stressful day today.

You won't get many functions as a prepaid user. You might read and try some of the things mentioned here. It will be hit and miss. Good luck, and welcome to the BBF.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I think the OP could use the TMO flex and get BB access not positive but worth checking into

Default So I called Tmobile on my lunch break... - 02-26-2008, 12:40 PM

and they said that they have a pre paid monthly plan. For 60$ (plus tax ends up being more like 70$) a month I can get a 1000 minutes a month , free nights and weekends, and unlimited data. This is all without a credit check and without a service plan.

So there's my answer
