Default Confused newbie

Please Login to Remove!

My wife has had a BB for some time now and I have watched her email and fiddle with her calendar and all. Since I am a basic American Male, I decided damn, these are cool and I got to get one of these. What I didnít understand is how it works and since I am an American Male, I canít read instructions. Well, OK I have read some of the instructions and a lot of the post here in this forum just not in front of my wife nor while holding a beer, and Iím still confused.

I bought a new BB Curve 8310 two days ago. I have connected it to my Windows XP Pro and set up to sync to my Outlook 2003. We use company domain POP mail server that is hosted by someone else whom also host our website. I have always had Outlook check the server for mail, download any new mail, then, delete it off the server. Why would I keep mail at the server when itís in my Outlook?

What I have noticed is that Outlook and BB email does not really sync! When Iím at the office, I read and delete emails as I get them. Then I leave the office for a few hours and have to again, delete the same emails off my BB. As I new emails on my BB, I have to delete them off my Outlook. This is crazy!!! No wonder my wife had been fiddling with it all the time.

It seems like someone sends me an email. It hit my POP mail servers. Then BB goes out and snags a copy of it but leaves it on my server. Then mu Outlook goes out and snags another copy and then deletes it from my server. Outlook E-Mail and BB really doesnít talk together at all.

Now I do not have everything figured out but it appears that this is the way email syncs with BBís. Is it true? Is there a work around? Should I have my email configured differently? Should I have the hosted email configured differently?

helpÖÖÖ.

On BIS service and POP3 email servers, you won't ever get mail and messages syncing. You will get manual sync of Tasks, Calendar, Address Book and Memos.

With BIS service and POP, you are correct, Outlook does not communicate with your BB wirelessly.

You would need BlackBerry Exchange Service for full email syncing, etc.

Default OK Then

I'm assuming BIS=Blackberry Internet Service.

It appears that some sponsers provide email syncs or is it something completely different?
