just wanted to say hello to everyone. Its great to see so many BB users.
I just got the 8830 w/ alltel, and I am thinking it is too much phone for me.

I bought the phone on ebay, transferred phone service from Razor to BB w/o upgrading service plan.

I thought I was going to be able to pick up wifi and use it, i am having a hard time. Other than doing a lot of texting, I wish i could check my email but I dont think I can do this w/o having data plan.

Can anyone make any suggestions what or how I should use my phone? Should i get a older version and sell this one? Or are there some killer applications out there that I can download and can use with the 8830?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

8830 = no wifi, it does have GPS
you have to sign up for a data plan to get email.
check the aftermarket section of this site for great apps

Perhaps if you tell us why you wanted a Blackberry, we can tell you what you need to do....or if it cannot be done.

Blackberrys are cool, but different, and looks like not what you were expecting. Take a look through the blackberryfaq (see link at top of forum). Good luck with whatever you decide.

...so i was tired of my razor, wanted something new. Then my friend got a iPhone, which I thought was neat. So I knew I wanted something that can pick up wifi, so i can check my email more often (im a photo editor/ intern), this would really help. I keep in contact with my photogs via text messaging. I would like to ability to use the internet of hotspots such as here at school.
I would consider keeping the 8830 if someone were to tell me, "hey, there are some killer apps like such and such..that lets you do this and this, plus can do this and this" kinda thing.
OR...I would consider selling it if someone recommended me to get another model that would pick up wifi and such. Basically, I am here to look to see how everyone else is using their BBs. I will be the first to admit that i might have taken a bigger bite than I can chew, but I dont mind adapting to what I purchased.

the 8830 does not have the ability to pick up WiFi. the only BB devices that pick up WiFi are the 8120 (ATT), 8320 (Tmo), 8820 (ATT/Tmo)

There is no wifi BB for the CDMA carriers. Nothing is even rumored yet.
