Couple of BB problems

I'm a first time BBuser and have a couple of problems:

Firstly, can't remove Num/Cap lock (one post says use the ALT key but not sure which this is)?

Secondly when scrolling through emails, all inbox seems to be highlighted and cannot open specific ones?

The trackball is working fine. It's when I access my inbox all emails are highlighted, either from the most recent down to oldest up???

To clarify the issue of NUM lock, this is shown in the top right corner of the screen and I cannot remove it. If I press the bottom left key, it changes from NUM to CAP to an 'up arrow' but des not disappear.

Press the ALT key to release the NUM or CAP lock.
