Default Hello...I am also new here - 10-19-2009, 12:50 PM

Hello to all BB users,

I am new here...just got my BB bold 9000 2 days ago.

I have some questions and I am sure I will have more in the future.... so I am posting here my first one....let me know if you can help me....

I am a privte user and I understood from my cell provider that the BIS acually doesn't synchronize with the outlook but only the BES becuase the BES is for companies and businesses that has Exchange servers....So basiclly It's just showing me my e-mails on the phone and that is something that my 3 y/o SonyEricson is doing as well.

Also, I don't have the money for hosted exchange or the expencive BES package.

First of all, is what I said here correct (about the BIS and sync)?

Also, can I download and use aplications from BB App World if I use WAP or connected to my home net through WI-FI?

Thnaks for your answers,

Yohan

Welcome to the group ... Sorry to see you didn't get your questions answered right away. Sounds like the info you were given may be more or less correct, and you've probably figured out the rest by now. Hope you're enjoying that 9000!

Welcome to BBF.

BIS email does not sync. You can sync contacts and calendar using Desktop Manager and the USB cable that came with the device.

You will need a BB data plan for email, BBM and access to BB App World. Can't get there via WiFi or a generic data plan.

Please read the FAQ as there are two separate articles on data plans.

Welcome.

Yes BES would fully sync your bb with exchange server, lotus notes etc.

BIS would basically mean you can setup any pop3 and get incoming emails.

If you have a custom domain, you can buy an exchange server email plan along with bes. I personally use mail2web.com services.
