Default First Blackberry... why did I wait so long to get one!

Please Login to Remove!

I got my first blackberry phone last week and its been pretty much glued to my hands. I have always been a gadget person and I always thought that I would get a iphone and be happy.
Since using the blackberry i can say hands down that blackberrys are better than iphones.
Sure I dont have a touchscreen (i have the 8520) and yes there are not as many apps but, this phone can do things I never knew could be done on phones.

If anyone knows some great apps or some hidden or cool stuff my phone can do them please tell me as I wont be happy till I know everything my phone can do.

Oh, a happy bunny. Welcome

Check the aftermarket software section for some ideas about software. Also download the blackberry app store app and browse. Have fun.

Welcome.... That 8520 is a sweet little device....

Check the after market area here and browse the app store from your BB... I am sure you will find a ton of apps to your liking...

Haha, why did you wait? ;)

I think the perception that the BlackBerry is a corporate / professional phone *only* and not a "fun" device may drive off a few people. It's not the iPhone and it's not Android-based, but for messaging, I haven't seen anything come close. One thing I love is how I can maintain a "universal inbox" with my BlackBerry... Emails, texts, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, all identified by different icons. It's the little things, I guess.

Thanks for the info. I have already checked out the app store and updated the phone and bbm to the leaked versions out but I want to find some hidden things or some 3rd party apps that stand out.

I also like the messenger layout in the one inbox too.

Recommended apps:

Google Maps
SearchIt (search box that allows you to quickly pick from various search engines and add your own)
Facebook
Ubertwitter
Amazon.com
Pandora (Internet radio)
BerryPopup (great app for seeing messages without leaving the app you're in)
BerryWeather (always active on my homescreen)
Bolt / Opera Mini 5 (browser alternatives)
