Default Not a Beginner, FAR from an expert & uninformed on Software add-ons for 8700g: - 04-25-2006, 01:14 PM

Figured I post this here considering I am really trying to get more use out of my BB outside of email.
Can someone please direct me to a link (within BBforums) for free software reviews, downloads, etc.
Just set up my 8700g and I am looking to see what to add on. On my 7250 I had BB411, BBToday, BBCorrector. Is the same software used for all BBerrys?

Also interested in other software ie; Google maps, Google talk, IM, etc.,

Thank you in advance for the help!

The same software should work on your new BB.

Thanks Tiki

Where do I go to get info on Google maps, Google talk, etc?
Basically looking to read about what each download does so I can decide if I need it. BB411, today, & corrector where good for me.
My feeling is I can use this devise for so much more, I just don't know what I need or want. Thanks for the help and look forward to more replies!

Browse the 3rd Party Apps and Rim Software forums. Lots of discussions there. I haven't seen a particular thread that reviews lots of software, though.

But there IS a thread about what people have installed on their BBs. That should give you lots of ideas.

Thanx for the help. Just downloaded BB411, BBMessenger, & google maps.
Read a few post and some people seem to be having a problem w/ BBCorrector & BBToday on the 8700g (due to OS 4.1 I think).
Before I download these, anyone got the 411 if this is true or not.
Again, thanks in advance for the help!

Check out BB Weather too. I like it. Clean and simple.

Thanks Cane93. What do you mean by 'Not since 85'? And we'll see what Meyer can do in the SEC. Little tougher assignment than where he came from. Are you a Cane? If so, watch out for Seattle 18. He's a diehard Seminole. And has the powers of a Super Moderator.

On BBCorrector, I haven't used that program. Never dl'ed it either. I probably need to since I'm not the best speller. On BBToday, I did dl that one, but found that I just wasn't useing it much. It seemed to work fine. (I have a 8700 on Cingular with the Bharti OS.) I have a hard time reading it without reading glasses. If a future OS comes out with a nice opening screen like that, I'll probably use it.

And I do like Google Maps (or Local). I do use that occasionally.

(Now if we can just get Fireproof to explain that avatar......)
