I'm a freelance translator living in Athens, Greece. I'm Portuguese / British and moved out here two years ago from London with my wife who is half Greek / half English.
I picked up my first ever Blackberry today(!) - a 7290. So I guess I'm about as new as new users get. I decided that having a blackberry would help me make the most of the periods when things are a little quiet work-wise - no need to hang around in my home office in front of the pc waiting for the next job to appear in my mailbox. Also, most of my contact with my clients is through e-mail and deadlines are tight, so I'll hopefully never miss another job due to me being away from my e-mail for one reason or another.
I went for the 7290 because I wanted something fairly basic that has been well tried and tested, and clearly does the job (phone + e-mail). I like to think I'm a gadget person, but I'm not really! If I get hooked then I'll look into upgrading later on, but something tells me the 7290 will do nicely.
