Hi all, Just been given a Blackberry 5820 and I've got a couple of questions. I only wanted a phone to keep my old sim card in and to send and receive the odd sms but now I've got the blackkberry I'm intrigued! Firstly i'm in the uk and my sim is an orange one. I have always had windows powered smart phones in the past and been able to use the built in internet explorer and also check e-mail on my pop3 account using this sim card. Is it possible to do the same using this blackberry and gprs? Secondly I've downloaded and installed the desktop manager software and managed to sync my contacts from outlook to the device, is this all the software is used for? I'm sure these are all repeated questionsbut this is a newbie thread so i can get away with asking them!

There are a ton of options if you search and check out the FAQs found in many of the forums. Please consult those for a HUGE level of info.

To answer your question(s), you'll need a Blackberry Data Plan before you can do anything data-related, including e-mail and web. Period. There's no way around it. Regular "normal phone" data plans won't work, regardless of what SIM you're using.

Good luck, and welcome to the forums.
