G'Day All.

My name is Ed, live in Sydney Australia.

After using a Pocket PC device for the past 8 years or so my new job (National Safety Manager) in a new company (OneSteel) has seen me issued with a BlackBerry 8700g.

Having used the device for a couple of weeks now I am getting used to the different type of interface and things are going pretty well.

Only two real disappointments, which are related.

Firstly the large suite of additional PPC programs I have bought over the years are now useless as they obviously are for the PPC operating system and therefore will not run on my new PDA.

Secondly all the third party applications designed for the BlackBerry are so bloody expensive!

Anyway, I came across this site today and after an initial exploration I decided to join. Looking forward to learning more about my device from those of you who have been using the platform a lot longer than I have been.

Cheers.

Ed

Hey Ed, I'm in Sydney as well.

Who are you using for your BB plan? Ours are all through AAPT (voda) but we've had some issues with them dropping out in fairly populated areas of Sydney and Melbourne - not sure if its the bb or the provider.

Anyway, good luck getting to know your bb.

Cheers, K

Thanks everyone for the welcomes and the words of encouragement.

I think we are with telstra. I am interstate 2 to 3 days a week (SA, WA, QLD, VIC) and based in NSW for the other days. So far so good but still have a lot to learn.

For example I still don't understand why emails I have deleted (or moved to personal afolders) in my desktop Outloook still appear in the BB inbox until I manualy delete them on the BB.

Where about are you in Sydney K? Maybe we could catch up some time.

Cheers
