Default How do I get pictures and tone files onto BB - 01-16-2007, 03:54 PM

OK, please someone help me out as I must be missing something really obvious here...
How can I transfer a ring tone or picture file from my PC to the phone?
I have a sneaking feeling, after having read various posts, that this is not possible and that I have to navigate using the tiny little browser and buttons to a web site or server. This can't possibly be the only way can it? If it is I feel like I have made a leap back in time!!!
Can I not just browse to the folder using the desktop software like I do in a smartphone. Help.

Welcome to the forums,

If you are using the 8100 Pearl then you can do it with the Desktop Manager using Media Manager. If you are using anything else then you need to download ringtones/pictures via the browser from websites and pictures can be emailed to yourself and saved that way.

As I thought. I am sorry to say that this thing is absolutely useless apart from email. This is crazy. So your'e telling me that people actually try and browse the web and type in long addresses with these things!! I have just decided that this BB will only get used as a big phone as it certainly isn't something I can mess with. I was really looking forward to getting issued with one of these as well.

Give it some time, and you might learn to like it. What model are you using?

I don't know how to transfer ringtones from PC to BB without using desktop manager but have you thought about emailing them as attachments to your BB? Worth a try...

For wallpapers, I have used this link:
http://blackberrycool.com/blackberry...aper-generator

I select the appropriate size and then upload the pic I want and then it automatically sends my BB a link via email with the formatted to size pic that I can save and use as wallpaper.
