For those who just got their BlackBerry right spanking new out of the box, your probably here cause they forgot the user manual. Actually, no they didn't some company can't fit the 8700 series books in the boxes because their too thick. Well, today, I'm here to help with the 8700 family of BlackBerry's. Tops, tricks, even a little extra that carriers refuse to tell you. Drop a reply, and don't be shy, we all need help. Including me, now...

No problem, the sticky threads is good, but one more can answer a question some may not. I think that some people like the fact of talking with someone who is as well a new user.

I think I may have just sent a post with nothing in it. Sorry - please allow me to try again: We have an 8700 user with a version level of v4.0.1.377. Says there is an 'autocomplete' feature (not autotext) that is finishing his words as he types. It is making him crazy - how does he turn that off?

Even if the program is autocomplete, it's still considered auto text unless your running third party software.If not:Options>Screen/Keyboard>Change the option to antialiasingThat should do it,Othwrwise from the sounds of it your running third party.And I've got 284 so scan the options and advanced options let me know what you find.

Your right there is no autocomplete, just autotext, which means a third party software is in use.
And I did mention that.

There is a site on plazmic that takes you to a third party software company (who is owned by plazmic!) That does programs called eOffice Professional. If the person had that then I know the autocomplete feature that is being described. I got rid of it to because of that irratant!

No, just the software company. Dynoplex owns the rights and trade of eOffice. But yeah, the're connected.

He is out of town, but I will give him your solution and let you know if it worked. This is definitely not third party software - his BB was straight out of the box. Thanks! BTW: I looked up antialiasing, and all the definitions have to do with graphics. Am I missing something?

@virusboy, do you even know what anti-aliasing is used for?! Just curious.

Dynoplex is not connected Plazmic or RIM, aside from being a developer of products/applications for the OS/platform and an ISV channel partner.

Oh, I could use some help on the auto text.
I know it can be disabled I just forgot where.

Autotext simply corrects spelling mistakes, adds in apostrophes when needed (such as im becoming I'm), capitalizes first letter or proper nouns, etc. In some cases, it could be misconstrued as auto-completion, but it will never actually spell out a word that you haven't fully typed (such as bask being changed to basket). It cannot be disabled for email messages (can be for SMS/Text messages), although the rules can be changed to better suit a person (look in Options > AutoText).

Anti-aliasing is used to 'soften' edges of graphics or fonts. When you're dealing with bitmap-based/pixel fonts, it can particularly come in handy, along with various other fonts that simply look better soft than rigid.

Then that means the person is using third party software, unless s/he misquoted or there is a blackberry addon feature that probably does not exsist.

However, one thing I do notice about anti-anlasing is the speed of uploading is faster.

FWIW, anti-aliasing would likely have very little processor utilization and no network utilization.
