Question What does BES and Wi-Fi stand for?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey'all - I'm new in here and I have found so many amazing tricks / tips / info on bb's. I never knew there was a site like this, and I'm glad to have happened to come in here via google search!

I'm getting the 8800 hopefully this week via Rogers (Canadian here! ) Sold my 8700r to a friend. (Will ship it to her as soon as I get my hands on the new one and transfer my SIM card.) I also WILL be selling the 8800 to get the one with camera (rumoured to be out by this Fall in Canada). I even have someone lined up to purchase the 8800 from me. Cool!

I'm learning all about the 8800 before I even get it, so this brings up my question "What does BES and Wi-Fi stand for?" I assume that Wi-Fi is another type of connection?

I'm thrilled with the new features such as mp3 and GPS. It's like "all in one" instead of carrying 3 separate units! Hope the "next" BB with camera isn't too bulky due to lens, etc.

Since I'm new in here, hope to recieve some replies regarding to my question and feel free to intro urself (what BB model u have and what location ur from). Ciao till then...

BES=Blackberry Enterprise Server (usually for corporate users)

WiFi=wireless internet access i.e. home networks, hotspots at coffee shops, etc.

Welcome! I believe I ansewered your question about BES and BIS in the other thread you asked. WIFI is a wireless internet service.
