Hey new member here.
Just picked up my BB yesterday and I'm addicted already. I got an awesome deal too from cingular.
Cingular had the phone priced at 249.99 with a 2 year contract and $50 rebate with a unlimited data plan making the phone 199.99 if you went for the whole deal.
I wasnt satisfied with this. I've been a loyal cingular customer and came off a 1 year contract from my last phone in June '06. I'm not paying that much money to start another contract.
I did some research and found the pearl on amazon for $.01 when upgrading with a 2 year extension and adding a data plan.
So I marched back to cingular and asked the manager why would I buy this phone from the store here when I could go on amazon an get the same plan but not pay anything for the phone (but I'd rather have bought it from the store anyway).
His response was well thats with a new service activation. I told him no they offered my a 2 year contract extension. So he goes off to the computer to check it out. Pulls up the website and points, "see it says on the screen here new activation." Nope put in the zipcode, and bam the option for existing customer upgrade pops up. He was shocked. Called his manager and a few minutes laters says,"ok I'll sell it to you for $30 plus tax seeing as you would have to pay shipping online." Even though the shipping wouldnt have been that much it sounded great to me, Sold! Paid $36 and change, total, for the phone.
Went home started playing around with it my fiance starting playing with it and she decided she wanted one so we went back and she got one for the same price. Heh the manager wasnt to excited about selling another one so cheap, and was like you cant start telling all your friends about this.
New member got my 8100 for $35
