Default Verizon 8703e as a Modem?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm new to the Blackberry world, but so far it is great! I have a question about using my Verizon 8703e as a "high" speed modem connected via USB to my laptop. I've set it up and it work just fine until the Blackberry receives an e-mail message. The screen on the Blackberry turns white and I get a rotating hour-glass, and I lose the internet connection. I have to disconnect the Blackberry, power it off and back on again before it will work.

Is this normal behavior? Or could I have something configured wrong?

Thanks for your help,

Default Not normal...

Welcome to the forums...

This is not normal behavior. I have an 8703e with VZW also, and I have no problems using it as a high speed modem with my laptop. So long as you are using the VZAccess Manager application and have the latest supported OS from Verizon, you should be able to do this without a problem. I do notice, however, that I do not get emails while connected as a modem. Once I disconnect, however, I get a flood of emails (they appear to queue up until I disconnect). I'd check with VZW to make sure your account is provisioned properly and that you have the latest support OS for your handheld (as well as the latest version of VZAccess Manager).

Hope that helps.
