Thumbs up Newest member here, show some love! - 06-06-2007, 12:52 PM

I've finally signed up for membership to this website even though I've been frequent visitor for the past few weeks. So if you heard shuffling in the shadows behind you, that was me, sorry!

I'm an application developer that lives outside of Toledo, Ohio. Despite the fact that I live in Ohio I am not a fan of the Bucks, so GO BLUE! I've always used Windows Mobile devices, so before I took a risk and went with Blackberry I was a little worried. Now that's all over and my Blackberry cherry has been popped I'd never go back to Windows Mobile. I own the 8830 World Edition from Verizon. Before I had that one I used the 8703e for about a week before the upgrade. There are a few reasons why I miss the 8703e, but I won't get into that.

My PIN is 30189894 if you want to add me to your BB Messenger.

Welcome glad you decided to join us here in the land of BBs. I hope youve found what you have been looking for.

I would love to hear why you liked the old vzw phone better since I was thinking of upgrading from my 7130e

Welcome Torrey. I am also new to the forum and the BlackBerry. The forums are a great source of information and have answered a lot of my newbie questions already. I am also loving my BB, it's fantastic for business, although I have to be careful not to use it when my wife is talking to me!

I'm not sure what the Bucks are or the Blues but that's because I'm an Aussie. So go Blues anyway.

Thanks for the reply Dawg and atrueman!

Here's some of the reasons why I miss the 8703e:

- Typing was so much easier with the keys spaced apart.
- Not totally sure why, but the battery in the 8703e that I had lasted longer than the 8830. Although the last two days have almost proven me wrong on this one. I've played with the device a little less and it's lasting all day without getting to 50% battery.
- The trackwheel response was more solid than the trackball on the 8830. After a week now I've really gotten the hang of the trackball, and it's much more helpful navigating, and also playing BrickBreaker.
- The 8703e was black! The gray 8830 doesn't look as sexy.

Mainly the things I liked from the 8703e are just small things that you get used to not having\using with the 8830. I can understand the reasons why they changed some of these features after using both.

atrueman, the Michigan Wolverines and Ohio State Buckeyes are college football teams. There's a big rivalry between the two teams and their fans. You should hear the arguing that goes on in the fall.

On the battery deal the more you completely drain the battery the battery during the first couple weeks the better it will hold a charge. When I first got my 7130 it wouldnt last a day now it last almost 3 depending on usage of course
