Default New Pearl user, noob questions . . .

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there, new to this forum and new to BlackBerry. Looking forward to learning all about it.

First noob question. I am inheriting a very lightly used Pearl from somebody who jumped ship and purchased an iPhone. I think he had the Pearl for a week. I currently have a voice plan only with AT&T . . . I assume I will I be able to simply insert the SIM card from my phone to the Pearl and be up and running with voice only. The person who had the Pearl was also on AT&T.

Question is . . . what service do I need to add to get the Blackberry goodies? Can I keep my current voice plan? The AT&T site is confusing in this regard. I am not using BES; I want email, internet, MMS.

Thank you!

You should be able to keep you current voice plan. You will need the BlackBerry Data Plan for email, internet and data. It should cost you 29.99 per month at Cingular, with your voice plan.

The previous user must release their PIN with Cingular, and cancel their old Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) plan before your service can start. Make sure that is done before you try to set it up for yourself or it will be a headache.

You will then set up your account at the ATT BIS site.

Check back if you need help. Welcome to the Forums.
