Hi, I figured I'd pop by and say hello. I've sorta lurked the forums for about 2 weeks, and finally decided to speak up.
I got my 8830 about 3 weeks ago when it was time to get my new phone after 22 months through VZW. Originally, my GF & I were going to get matching phones (so we could share accessories) and we were looking at the Q. She ended up going with this samsung that flips sideways for a full qwerty keyboard because the Q has reception issues. I ended up going with the BB because it was about the same, and out of the 3 (Q, Trio, & BB) everyone said the BB had the best reception.
At this point, I'm still missing with the phone and learning about all of the goodness you can do with it.

She's got 21 months on this contract before getting a discounted phone. However she's been eyeing my phone. And I think her father likes my BB over his Trio.
Does she still have time to switch? You can then pin message and use BBMessenger. Someone stated here earlier being the only one with a BB is like having one great walkie talkie!!
