Default Leaked OS6 vs. Official OS6?

Please Login to Remove!

Now that OS6 is available in a leaked version for the 9700, I am hesitant to download it because I'm reading about bugs some users are reporting. Maybe I should wait until an official version is out. Through the years, has anyone noticed any significant differences between leaked and official versions?

All versions have bugs and change features that might be considered as bugs. And all versions are released by RIM to the carriers who then add their own customizations.

IMHO, if your device works as you need and want, then why try to fix something that isn't broken? The Forum is full of users who are not satisfied with how their device works with a new OS.

And you might also want to wait to see how well the 9700 handles OS6.

If you have to ask that question, you should not only wait for an officially released version, but for an officially released version by your carrier as that is where support comes from.

Beta versions - especially first versions - are for explorers and pioneers only.

So, I am currently DL'ing 9700_OS6_344. Is this the buggy 'leaked' version that you all speak of?

I have personally found this release to be amazing. My phone is working very well for what I need to do.

My boss even let me upgrade him to this beta and he now likes the BB more than he did before (converted to Mac / iPhone and now hates BB and Windows)

Battery life of almost 3 days has blown me away.

But as others pointed out, beta is beta. It could be a total shit show for you, or it could be unicorns and rainbows.

Did you do a backup and restore during your upgrades? Did everything take after the install? Assuming you went from 5.x to this OS6 build.

So I used BBSAK to do a low level wipe and then installed this build. It looks like the install took, but my gui looks like a white version of dos. Is there a trick to installing this build?

Yes. In another thread, it states that you have to delete the two T-Mobile theme files, otherwise you will get a gui that looks like a white version of dos.

I'm running the leaked OS 6 on my 9300 and dont notice any real problems with the leaked version. its running great. I'm personally noticing performance improvement with my device after installing the leaked OS.

Default Re: Leaked OS6 vs. Official OS6?

The second OS6 leak for 9700 is better. Even with the first leak it was worth it IMO. It's pretty damn stable for an unofficial release and I don't usually play with leak OSes.
