| OS6 For The 9700 Review (PLEASE CONTRIBUTE) Please Login to Remove! This will hopefully become a community thread where we can all contribute to how we feel about the new OS6 for the Blackberry 9700.
I took the plunge and loaded OS6 to my 9700. So far, I'm very impressed with 6.0. I did a quick check with the browser and for now I do see an improvement in page loading, finally. The previous browser was bad enough for me to use additional browsers, specifically BOLT and Opera. The other browsers tend to work a tiny bit faster with the new OS6.
I have been using the old browser for about a year and I tried using the old Blackberry keyboard shortcuts, most notably "G" to go to a web address, and the Spacebar to page down or Shift-Spacebar to page up. Neither of them work. I miss those shortcuts. Also, with the previous browser I had an option to search either through Google or Wikipedia and I would be directed to those portals.
After installing OS6, I lost the AT&T MEdia Net, which I used to always use as my opening browser akin to a homepage. Any way I can get that back?
One side note is that the YouTube application works well on OS6, though not quite as well as the Player For YouTube Pro, which I bought from Blackberry AppWorld. I strongly recommend buying the latter if you watch lots of YouTube.
Is there any way to restore my keyboard shortcuts and MEdia Net?
Anyhow, these are just my initial impressions after one hour with OS6. If you have something to add, please do so. | | Offline

| I must also add that for the browser, I use to press the ENTER button from the keypad to select instead of pressing on the trackpad to minimize its use. It's a habit I used to pick up during the trackball era of the Curve series. Can't do that anymore with this OS6 browser. Hopefully a software update will allow that in the future. | | Offline

| Just want to add, it has greatly improved speed on the instant messenger Trillian Astra (astra.im), as well as the improved browser / tabs.
One other note, I like how you can see what processes you have running, cpu, memory, etc. Just like windows task manager Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile | | Offline

| I must say everything was very smooth going to 6.0. Almost everything works as it should. What doesn't function correctly...when clicking an article on Viigo, it won't render unless I do it through browser. Some site I try to onto won't load, I get a message that says" website too large for phone". I go on TMOnews a lot and it won't let me now. Other then that, it's doing ok. | Thanks, Bravo. Works like a charm. I also notice that my Standby button no longer works. Holding down the upper right button for a second does nothing. Any way to restore that button? | | Offline

| Upeer right is for mute/pause/play isn't it? Left is for standby. Or your settings may be changed but I'm not sure Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile | | Offline

| So far no problems, 2 days using, i notice small amounts of lag once in awhile. only issue is the battery once it gets low, its seems to go from 30-40% to 8% immediately, it always goes to 8%, battery life is ok for the most part but twice this happened. I assume an early release bug but other than that the os is slick..

| I have loaded up the OS 6.0 software and everything is running smoothly, it seems to be faster and the menu transitions are faster then 5.0. also I find that the Browser tab feature is great and the auto Zoom within the browsing works perfectly. I also find that the In call screen looks really good and a lot easier to use. Geo-tagging works great with the device. All messaging features works great and i was able to have delivery report on for SMS with this OS. I haven't tried the Wifi Sync yet but that will be my next to test. I will report these findings when I do.
