The live spindle drivesthe live tools which are located on the milling heads, straight or angular ones. The transmissionis made through a gearbox of 2 ranges. The speed is infinitely variable, being able to rotate inboth senses (CW and CCW).The milling heads are assembled with angular contact bearings quality ISO-P4.Driven tools are retained on the milling heads by a standard pull stud to ISO 7388/2 type A(DIN69872), and are located by an ISO 7388/1 (DIN69871) size 50 taper, type AD.With the live spindle, and in combination with the C axis, the machine can achieve milling, drillingor threading operations.4.2.3 C AxisA rotary indexing axis to the table is provided by the C axis drives. 2motors are mounted in the base. Due to the requested machine tolerances and capacities during the machining process, themachine can be supplied with direct linear measuring system in the X and Z axis. The linearscales are pneumatic pressurised to avoid the entrance of dust, chips, etc.In the standard version the machine is equipped with encoders in X&Z axes.
4.2.5 Swarf conveyor with additional coolant tank and paper filterSwarf conveyor with a tank of 450 l capacity will be provided to collect coolant fluid and chipsby gravity from the machine. This tank has a motopump, to send the coolant from the swarfconveyor to the additional tank.Additional tank with a capacity of 1.000 liters, and a paper filter and magnetic drum. Twomotopumps, controlled through the CNC, will provide coolant flow: he first one with 30 l/min flow at 10 bar, for tool refrigeration. the second one with 100 l/min at 5 bar, for machine cleaning.Filtration level: 40 microns.4.2.6 Oil removing systemThe oil removing system offers a way to remove oil from the surface of the coolant. By using aself-cleaning oil feeding special tape, the leakage oil is removed from the surface and strippedin the device. Tape width: 40 mm. Tape length: 800 mm.This device is assembled in the coolant additional tank.4.2.7 Siemens hand wheel unitB-MPI Hand wheel unit. It is fitted to a hand held box with flying lead connected to the controlconsole to give the operator easier control when making manual adjustments and settings.This unit has got emergency stop and validation duplicated (2 channels) circuits. The validationpush-button is a 3 position keyThe base is a substantial and heavily ribbed castingproviding a high degree of stability to the machineassembly. It is cast in grey iron grade 300 as per EN1561:1997 with 300 N/mm2 minimum ultimate tensilestrength and is fully stress relieved prior to finalmachining.The base supports the rotating table, and houses themain spindle and table drive assembly. A labyrinth sealis provided between the bottom of the table and a coverplate thus protecting the main spindle and drive from theingress of cutting fluid, swarf or any other particles.
The table is directly mounted on the hydrostatic spindle. The axial and radial centering is madeby the hydrostatic device.The main spindle is driven from 2 vertically mounted motors at the back of the base. Eachmotor has a two-speed gearbox. From this, the drive to the spindle is provided through a gearreduction transmission, giving a smooth, highly efficient and low noise transmission which alsocreates minimal heat and therefore minimal distortion in the Z and X axes, this being furthercontrolled through the use of the controlled temperature lubrication system.The speed is infinitely variable, the table being able to rotate in both senses: CW and CCW.The cross rail is a substantial and heavily ribbed casting providing a high degree of rigidityunder heavy loads. It is cast in grey iron grade 300 as per EN 1561:1997 with 300 N/mm2minimum ultimate tensile strength and fully stress relieved prior to final machining.The cross rail is fitted with 2 precision ground hardened steel guide ways onto which the Ramsaddle is supported and is able to slide horizontally (X-axis).Travel of the Ram saddle is provided by rack/pinion driven from 2 servomotors through 2reducers (master/slave). The Ram saddle\'s movement is done by an hydrostatic system.A set of covers is fitted to protect the guide ways, the rack/pinion and eventually the linear scaleagainst cutting fluid, swarf and any other particles. Additionally, wipers are fitted to all faces ofthe guideways and the linear scale is pressurised for maximum protection.The crossrail moves vertically along the columns, by means of2 screws driven from 2 motors with 2 reducers.To ensure that the X axis travel is always square to the table,the cross rail is latched and clamped in pre set positions. Thelatching is a very substantial, very precisely ground assembly.The very heavy cross rail is clamped back to the column guidesin order to achieve a very accurate Z axis. This is achieved witha very powerful hydraulic and mechanical assembly.Positioning of the crossrail is made through the CNC, in stepsof 200 mm.The square Ram is made from a normalised EN8 steel forging,induction hardened and precision ground. It is mounted in arobust housing made in high quality close grained grade 300 castiron, which in turn is rigidly supported by the cross rail saddle.The Ram saddle has an hydrostatic system that allows thevertical movement at Z axis to the Ram.Vertical travel of the Ram, Z-axis, is provided by a high precisionballscrew driven from the Z-axis servomotor. The hydrauliccounter balance system fitted to the Ram slide prevents the Zaxisballscrew from being subjected to high loads and thereforemaintains high positional accuracy.Both, the turning toolholders and the milling heads (for the live tools, in case the machine hasa live spindle) are retained by 4-hydraulically actuated clamping elements to ensure highrigidity and accurate tool clamping. The positioning of both, toolholders and milling heads ismade through a Hirth coupling system.Oil lubrication of main spindle drive.
A recirculating oil lubrication system ensures adequate lubrication for the cinematic chain. Alubrication unit comprising of oil reservoir, motorised pump and filters is provided with themachine for this purpose.
Additionally and to ensure thermal stability and minimise tablethermal growth, an oil chiller unit is also provided. Both the lubrication and chiller units are floor mountedat the rear of the machine with all required interconnecting piping.A series of thermostats, pressure and level switches provide the machine controls with full andcontinuous monitoring for safe operation.Oil lubrication for live spindle drive.A recirculating oil lubrication system provides lubrication for the live spindle gearbox (2 ranges).The lubrication unit comprising of oil reservoir, motorised pump and filter is mounted on the topof the Ram. Pressure and level switches provide the machine controls with full and continuousmonitoring for safe operation.Grease lubrication.A number of elements are grease lubricated for life. These elements include the X axis reducers,the tool changer reducer, the Z ballscrew bearings, as well as the milling heads bearings andC axis reducer.The 18 station tool magazine is provided to the right hand side of the machine. This is a floormounted fabricated base structure supporting the toolholder disc. The indexing of the disc isdriven from a cnc servomotor via a reducer and gears.The standard disc is designed to hold 18 turning toolholders.
