This sale is for a complete vintage fence for an early Crescent or Delta 20” band saw.
The fence that was available for this band saw was very similar to the Micro-set fence used on the Delta Unisaw from 1939 through 1960. The only difference was the length of the fence, since the band saw table was not a deep as the Delta Unisaw table. Fits on the 1.375\" rails used on the 20\" bandsaws. Delta Unisaw rails can be shortened andused on these bandsaws if original rails are too difficult to locate.
The beam on this fence is 27.56” in length as compared to the 30.25” length of the early Unisaw fence. The head casting and rear clamp are identical to the Unisaw Micro-set components.
This very rare fence is totally refurbished and is in excellent condition. The all aspects of the fence work perfectly. This hard-to-find fence is ready to use without any further effort.
The head casting and fence components have been updated and rebuilt as follows:
- The head casting, the fence,and all of the unit\'s components were disassembled and sandblasted.
- The head casting surface was sanded to remove parting lines and ridges.
- All of the major parts were primed and finish painted in gloss gray industrial two component paint.
- The two mild steel pivot pins in the head castingfor the cam and rocker were replaced with high strength alloy dowel pins.
- The lever and knob were replaced with a new stainless steel lever and new black Saturn knob.
- The adjustment components in the rocker assembly were reconditioned to work perfectly.
- The Micro-set adjustment gear is free of deflects and damage and was reinstalled with a scotch-brited OEM die cast knob.
- The threads on the pull rod were chased before installing with a new nickel plated reproduction finger knob.
- The hard-to-find 27.56” fence rail was sandblasted, primered, and finish painted in matching gloss gray.
- The rear clamp casting was sandblasted and inspected to insure it is free of cracks and/or defects.
- The rear clamp block was primered and painted in flat black enamel.
- The mild steel cam in the rear clamp was replaced with a 4130 alloy steel replacement cam.
- All bolts, setscrews, and washers were replaced with new 18-8 stainless steel fasteners.
